  • Saying Goodbye To Coca-Cola, Time To Move On [View article]
Your citing CVS refusing to sell tobacco and DG picking up the tobacco card makes me wonder. KO has refused to delve into alcoholic products for a good reason. Think about this! Is there a possibility that drug stores and dollar stores may be the next to be heavily sued for marketing and selling tobacco products, the number one cause of lung cancer. I predict that affordable care will look for ways to offset their tremendous costs and who better to sue than the large RX stores selling tobacco products. Just saying. DOC7.

  • Apple (AAPL) is aggressively hiring workers and looking to "acqui-hire" startups for its iWatch design/engineering efforts, the FT reports. However, sources add the timing of the hires suggests the device won't be ready until 2H14. Many think the recent hiring of Yves Saint Laurent CEO Paul Deneve to work on "special projects" was at least partly made with the iWatch in mind. If/when it arrives, the product will target a $60B industry with an estimated 60% gross margin. [View news story]
I am confident that the Iwatch will have great success especially in Japan. I lived there for 3 years and saw their great love for Casio watches, Walkman and other innovative products.

  • Apple (AAPL) might be forecasting a major drop in iPhone 4S sales ahead of the next iPhone's launch. Topeka Capital's "Apple Monitor," which tracks the sales of Taiwanese firms who (on average) derive 50%-60% of their revenue from Apple, witnessed a 13% M/M sales decline in June. That compares with a 1% average increase over the last 7 years, and suggests a large decline in component orders. Nonetheless, analyst Brian White is maintaining his $1,111 PT on Apple. I WENT INTO a Best Buy last week and it was near empty of customers. The next day I went into one of the Apple stores and they were standing shoulder to shoulder buying new Imacs I pads and Mac pros. Man next to me has bought every new thing Apple has produced and often two of a kind. It is incredible.

  • Barclays' Ben Reitzes thinks Apple (AAPL -0.4%) sold a healthy 33M iPhones in FQ2 on the back of international demand, and thinks there's upside to his estimate of 9.5M iPad sales. However, he thinks Mac sales could be relatively soft due to iPad cannibalization and an upcoming refresh. Moreover, he suspects consumer expectations regarding upcoming Mac and iPhone launches could lead Apple to issue conservative guidance for FQ3. (earlier)  [View news story]
OUR SON WHO IS 59 HAS BOUGHT EVERY NEW IPHONE THE WEEK IT CAME OUT. HE HAS THREE I MACS, THREE IPODS, THREE LAPTOPS, AND HAS NOT MISSED A NEW ADDITION OF THE IPAD. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY PEOPLE ARE BUYING SO MANY APPLE PRODUCTS, HE IS A PRIME EXAMPLE.
