I meant to say that both Crystallex and Gold Reserve have been taken advantage of by the Chavistas. For example, Crystallex has provided dental care, constructed housing, and had plans drawn up for a top notch sewage treatment plant for communities aurrounding Las Cristinas. Despite having to do this unofficial "bribe" work, Crystallex and Gold Reserve are still facing an illegal seizure of their mining areas by the government. While the government owns the land, they are invalidating KRY's Mine Operating Agreement. Their hope is to run out the clock on Crystallex and Gold Reserve until they burn through all their cash. Hugo's behaviour is almost amusing. What a clown.

It is very unfortunate that KRY and GRZ won't be allowed to mine at Las Cristinas & Las Brisas. Both firms were prepared to hit the ground running in anticipation of permit issuance. Nevertheless, Chavez made sure that MINAMB and MARN threw up roadblock after roadblock. But, here sure accepted all of the social welfare projects that Crystallex and Gold Reserve participated in around the mining areas! In a very real sense, they have been taken for a ride by Chavez.
