Toured a respectable chunk of the world before settling down to career and family. Late starter to build nest egg, but through some self-education and some luck have done not too bad. Fully invested in mutual funds up to the crash of 2001, I pulled out at that time to buy a house and avoided shrapnel out of sheer serendipity. Bought my first individual stock (oil) after traveling to China for the third time (ten years after the previous time) when I was struck by how fast bicycles had disappeared to be replaced by cars (by the millions). Heavily focused on commodities and base metals in particular, as it is clear to me that exponential growth in population and demand for everything under the sun will spur growth in the ...More building blocks with which we can produce these. Have not bought into a mutual fund for years, and have completely divested from US market after taking severe hits with depreciation of that currency VS my country`s own (once burnt...). Dabbled in ETFs but remain committed to individual and well-selected stocks to build wealth. Carpe diem...but caveat emptor.
