  • 11 Blue Chip Stocks Trading At Bargain Prices [View article]
With mining in the dumps CAT will continue to struggle. CMI does not yield as much but the company is solid and diesel engine sales are in a long term uptrend. Good article, thanks for posting.

Thank you for the weekly articles. Read and enjoyed your book last month while on a trek through Peru. We were well over 10K' so there were no nights of spinning tent floors

  • 2013 Was Great! Are There Any Bargains Left For 2014? (Part II) [View article]
Thanks Joe. I like buying companies with hard assets backing up the share price. RYN at $42 is a great investment. Took a look at a 12 year chart before buying which put its long term ascent into perspective

Bob Greifeld may want to wear that clean hoodie, sunglasses and a fake mustache to his next BOD meeting. His crisis management has been less than stellar regardless of the fact that he has had numerous opportunities to improve it

Thanks for the article, your ideas are always worth considering. I have been selling the weeklies on AIG. Also like ACAS which continues to buy back a lot of stock as long as the price is below B/V

  • Be Prepared, But Don't Be Crazy [View article]
NOV could certainly go lower than its peers in the correction at which point I will add more. Currently have the ITM $70 calls sold against my half position so my exposure is not too great. The gold miners such as GG and ABX finally may be finally forming a base. I have a small recent position in GG which pays a teeny monthly dividend. The premiums are good but one has to be able to stomach the corresponding volatility.

If sitting on ones hands to prevent pressing the buy button is a strategy then I too have a plan. JPM looks due for a bounce while BMY looks like they just discovered how to reverse the aging process. I like NOV and DE here but will show my resolve by continuing to pivot on my hands while rocking back and forth like the rain man. Cheers

  • A 'LEAP' Of Faith [View article]
Great article, as usual. Another way to use a long term option is to buy an ITM LEAP in a severely oversold stock such as FCX in late '08. I looked at the 2010 $15 strike when the stock was down to $16 plus but was too scared to pull the trigger. Still on the look out for something similar but want real assets backstopping the share price

DISney goes ex with its 75 cent annual divvy on 12/6. I like the risk reward of a buy write since the worst thing that happens is you own a little Mickey, Goofy and Chris Berman. You could even dust off that treadmill and "go-all- the-way". I enjoy your writings, keep it up.

  • Why Start Now? [View article]
"MetLife (MET), which was on the list a few weeks ago, is still waiting for its turn, but this week, as it goes ex-dividend could be just the time. What's somewhat unusual about shares is that they distribute the dividend annually" I did a similar ATM covered call trade on PRU again this year. DIS is another Goofy annual payer which really doesn't make sense for a media company
