  • Microsoft (MSFT) will charge a hefty $899 for the 64GB version of Surface Pro, and $999 for the 128GB version. Touch/type covers are sold separately. There's a good chance Surface Pro will be seen as just one name in a sea of Windows 8 Pro tablets and convertibles, especially since its use of an Intel (INTC) Core i5 CPU has made it a little thicker/heavier than models running on Intel's Clover Trail. Meanwhile, Digitimes is reporting Microsoft has cut its Q4 Surface RT orders in half to 2M  - that's a negative for NVDA. (NPD data[View news story]
Why do people keep comparing this to a Tablet? It is a PC. It can do exactly what a desktop can do. This is comparable to the Macbook Air.

  • After steadily climbing today on volume over 2x its daily average, Nokia (NOK +13.7%) is at levels last seen in August. Optimism regarding Lumia 920 sales following some positive datapoints (I, II) could be a factor, though Swedish i-bank Handelsbanken cautioned this morning early Lumia 800/900 sales triggered a similar response. SA's Jacob Steinberg pointed out today net institutional ownership of Nokia has been rising. [View news story]

  • Dear Google And Nokia: To Build An Accessory Ecosystem, You Have To Ship [View article]
I understand your point, but when you have a family at home their will most likely be an xbox, why buy an AppleTV?

I know it's a great device, but the fact is 10s of millions in the US alone already have an Xbox. With that said how many homes have an AppleTV?

The thing is the Xbox is just a more popular and better platform than an AppleTV.

I rather get an xbox pay for gold and stream all the tv I want, play video games and so on from my couch. AppleTV is missing that gaming platform... And that is a huge community.

The kernal is in reference to how well integration is between the OS on multiple platforms. So your tablet, PC, Phone, Xbox work almost seamlessly together.

Honestly with all the tech patents under NOK and MSFT belts... I wouldnt be surprised if Lumia does well that we see a line of NOK tablets made exclusivly for MSFT.

2lbs... we are talking 2 lbs

Ultra books are pushing 3lbs and more Tablets are a little more than a lb...

Im sorry but carrying something two pounds really isn't heavy at all. If you said it was combersome I may be inclineed to believe you if you had hands on experience, but that isn't the case.

"too heavy" Its the Lumia 920 all over again... It's not that heavy...

The pro is supposed to be a tablet that ranks up with laptops so pricing and feel will be close to a laptop

  • AT&T is offering Nokia's (NOK -5.4%) Lumia 920 for $450 without contract, a figure that suggests Nokia's unsubsidized pricing for the device is fairly aggressive - the 16GB iPhone 5, by comparison, goes for $649 without contract, and Samsung's Galaxy S III sells for $549. That pricing is a likely reason why AT&T is comfortable offering the 920 for $100 with a 2-year contract. [View news story]
Also this makes things easier for those who do not want to wait 19 months or more to upgrad their 900. Low prices means they can upgrade partially.

Plus, T is wanting more new customers and by offering such an aggresive price point for a desirable phone... It's a smart move.

  • Vringo (VRNG) has won its patent suit against Google (GOOG). The company has been awarded $30M in damages and a royalty on Google search ad revenue through 2016, when Vringo's patent expires - some reports indicate the royalty rate is 3.5%. Google will almost certainly appeal. Vringo shares remain halted. [View news story]
That was a part of the deal they made with VRNG.

Nok gets a specific amount from earning in relation to the patents

  • Nokia's Burning Cash On Its 'Burning Platform' [View article]
How the heck is 185 grams hefty? That is roughly 6 oz... a 3rd of a lb... That is less weight than the burger most people eat at McDonald's. You have a strong and light body that withstands some punishment as well as the weight from the wireless charging, 2000mah battery and larger camera with a "floating" lens.

Also its cheaper than the iPhone 5 and you get more out of it... I am confused on how this machine is not worth it.

  • Nokia's Burning Cash On Its 'Burning Platform' [View article]
So... Even though this is dated research you are still saying the "Burning Platform" is in relation to Windows Phones.. When in fact your first mention of the platform is in regards to Symbian.

Symbian is dead. Windows Phone 8 is not the burning platform its just the platform Nokia jumped on and now riding in hopes for a brighter future... Try some actual research maybe? Or at least read what you type.

  • More on Nokia: 1) Stephen Elop suggests he wouldn't object to a Microsoft (MSFT) smartphone, claiming one would be "a stimulant to the [Windows Phone] ecosystem." Elop has said he has "no indications" a Microsoft phone is one the way, but the rumor mill has been busy (I, II). 2) China Mobile (CHL), the world's biggest carrier, will sell a Lumia 920 variant starting in November. 3) WPCentral reports AT&T's (T) U.S. exclusive on the Lumia 920 will last for 6 months[View news story]
Taken as written above "1) Stephen Elop suggests he wouldn't object to a Microsoft (MSFT) smartphone, claiming one would be "a stimulant to the [Windows Phone] ecosystem." "

Would make me think forshadowing. I didn't listen to the call at the time and now have read through the conference. So yes, you are correct. It would be silly for MSFT to make a phone, though it still is plausible (just unlikely).
