  • Impeccable Quality, But There Are No Bargains Today In The S&P 500 Consumer Staples Sector: Part 8 [View article]
Commissions are a business expense to me,tax deduction.
I had around $350 in trading fees last year, managing 53 security positions.
Considering I rebalance yearly,I still feel it is cheaper than mutual funds

    Chuck,

This is exactly why I used DCA to enter each of my consumer staples.
We own 9 of the above names.
Buying over a 2 plus year period proved to be a great tactic.

Thanks again for all your hard work

    Doug,

    Great article
I am now in year 4 of the very same plan with many of the very same holdings.
We own 20 "direct investment" plans, and have found this to be a outstanding way to build slowly therefore dollar cost averaging.
Total we own 53 different securities
We re balance once per year and or more frequently if events dictate change
We set goals for yearly dividend income

Look forward to the next article

  • Why I Would Not Build A Retirement Portfolio On Procter & Gamble [View article]
P.G. holds a full 2 share position in my portfolio.
I would not hesitate to add more funds to PG at most anytime.
Then again I DCA my purchases in,with smaller amounts than most.
