  • Team Alpha Portfolios For Retirement: When Is Enough, Enough? [View article]
My goal was 1 million, and as of now,I have fallen short.
I may have to return to work to achieve my goal.
Since I am now unemployed for 3 years, I feel qualified to add my opinion.
The magic number you need is very much based on # 1 your DEBT, and # 2 your lifestyle.
If you are car loan free, mortgage free, credit card free, you can retire on much less.
If you white linen dine everynight,it will cost you more.
If you are like me and love to travel, you will need a little more than a tv and less active retiree.

Keep in mind the public and investors are spoon fed info thru highly talented PR departments.
I strongly doubt that WB,Soros,Icahn even bother to read the same investment literature that we do.
We are sheep led by company propaganda.
They have the real inside story

  • Dividend Growth Investing: Misguided And Doing It All Wrong [View article]
    Dave,

Great article and I echo Chowder.
My parents were 100% CD savers.
While my pop did a truly unbelievable job of saving money on a very low income, they would rotate their 6 month,1 year and 2 year CDs.
Even a hint of suggesting a mutual fund was out of the question.
As you know from our private e mails, I am still in the learning phase of DGI.
Writing a "mission statement" has helped me remain focused.
Just this past week, I did a total re balance of my direct invest account.
Unlike a Scottrade account, buying and selling to rebalance in a DIR account will probably take over a month to complete.
I only wish I would have learned the discipline of DGI years ago.
In my mind, DGI is a "discipline" of investing.
To those of you who have helped me learn,,I want to say THANK YOU.
To those of you who are Christian, MERRY CHRISTmas.
To those of you of other faiths "Happy Holidays"

    Gob Bless America,

  • Should Coca-Cola Be Added To My Dividend Growth Portfolio? [View article]
Once again,I echo CapeCap,I hate to overpay for anything...
    KO,like XOM,will always be debated <GE too>
Dividend is too low for both, both provide outstanding management and portfolio safety.
While people hate Sexy Rexy,I still think he will have the finale say,and just received a huge endorsement from WB.
I could not see building a dividend growth portfolio without either one.

Yeah, yeah,,I know as a dividend growth investor, you are suppose to ride out the lows.
With this one I couldnt because of the debt.
SO,I took my sound beating, but sold off some other gainers to offset the terrible beating.
