  • Dividend Aristocrat Overview: Chevron [View article]
Added more CVX last week, and more COP 2 weeks ago.
If prices fall more,I expect to add more !
At the moment both trades are in the red,but even at a 5 year time frame,I expect to come out fine.
I kinda laugh when I see the talking heads tell people "Dont buy oil unless you expect to hang onto it for at least 5 years"
When I buy any stock,I expect to hold onto it for at least 5 years.
Anything less than 5 years isnt investing, its gambling.

    Robert,

I met with a locally famous <radio,tv> CFP who offers 2 plans.
1-2% <depending on size> of your portfolio <plus hourly,if you are needy> OR commission based on what he buys and or sells for your account.

The meeting was very informative and free for the first meeting only.
What he showed me was "dont sweat your job anymore" <I was laid off shortly thereafter> and how to set up the "buckets" principal.

He strongly wanted to manage my money on a commission basis.

Im not saying he was dishonest in any way,Im simply stating they earn more by pushing commission sales over the 1% type of account.
He wanted to place me in all types of high commission funds, that we both know we can duplicate on our own.

    All my Best,
    Bill

    Robert,

Probably because most CFP's think commission,commission,...
    For many,its all about sales....
I took a class with the great Paul Zoch of Zoch and Zoch...
The very first thing he taught us was the number 1 rule to financial planning is <drum roll> "Protect what you have".
In other words most people are so consumed in making money they fail to protect their existing assets.
    I have a will/trust,along with a umbrella policy over everything I own
    I am over insured
