  • Dividend Growth Investing: Is It A Strategy Of Cliches? [View article]

    Great stuff..
Many DG investors also use utes and telecoms.
That can be a whole new article as UTES have been under huge pressure.
I am as sure we will be using pampers, tissues, and mouthwash,as I am we will be using electric and cell phones.
I continue to add to my "O",thru dollar cost averaging, even at these levels.
    Stick to the plan...

  • Why Utility Investors Are Likely To Get Scorched In The 2nd Half Of 2014 [View article]
I normally agree with you,and I certainly can not argue your analysis on utes or ute funds.
Utes are the majority holding in my dividend income portfolio.
However,I dumped ALL of my ARCP
How anyone can pimp that reit is beyond me.
They have dont nothing but reverse ground and LIE to investors.
Say one thing, and do the other...
Now the CEO is leaving with a fat parachute.
I look for integrity in the companies I invest in.

  • I Have No Fear Of A Market Crash Or A Significant Correction, Here's Why: Part 1 [View article]
Last week the dow reached record highs and part of my portfolio <UTES> was down.
It is a market of stocks, not a stock market.
Several weeks ago the dow was down over 100 points for the day and my portfolio was up $5k.
    Again,it is a market of stocks,not a stock market.
The dow will continue to rise simply thru inflation,as the products, goods and services we use from these companies will only continue to go up in price.
Im sure pampers will cost more 5 years from now, than they do in 2014.

  • I Have No Fear Of A Market Crash Or A Significant Correction, Here's Why: Part 1 [View article]
Recently I sold ARCP for a 12% loss when they decided to try to become DRI.
ARCP did the exact opposite of what they promised shareholders, and now the CEO is stepping down with a huge windfall.
Last years I sold both LINE and LNCO for a loss when some things surfaced about management.
Of course,Im told by many,I am stupid.
    HOLD,it will come back
Like yourself I look for well run companies with management teams that have integrity.
Its very difficult as most of our government, leaders, and even law enforcement lack real integrity.
Once I see that "breach" or HUGE LIE,I sell the stock ASAP
While some people dont like Sexy Rexy,I have yet to catch him in a huge lie.
Same to be said for a few others...

THANKS,and I hope you are correct.
Folks here in San Diego are raving about the new solar roof shingles, which also happen to be fire resistant.
Now there is a winning stock, whoever builds them..

  • Protecting Your Income Portfolios In Today's Market: Consider Defensive Utility Stocks [View article]
I come from the "CHOWDER" school of investing when it comes to UTES.
Unlike Chowder, I buy regulated utilities, not just unregulated.
    We own AEP,ED,SO,NEE,DUK,WEC,...
We am very happy with the performance of UTG and its monthly paycheck.
We also recently purchased AWR and WTR.
    Now,a question
Here in San Diego SOLAR and WIND power are growing like gang busters.
T Boone and Warren are both very high on the above, and some people feel that within 10 years this could really hurt the utility industry.
Your opinion on utilities being over run by new technology ?

Thanks as always for your help,
    Bill in SD

  • American Realty Capital Properties: Get Ready For A New CEO [View article]

It is little wonder that ARCP's stock has been languishing in recent months. The company has committed several major miscues, while confidence in Mr. Schorsch's management and leadership skills has likely never been lower. However, as shown by the market's reaction to the CEO stepping down, change is a good thing for ARCP.

When you buy a dying restaurant chain, intelligent people dont lose confidence they wonder if its a MADOFF deal.
Now he resigns to enjoy his billions,,,smells like rotten lobster to me...

  • Realty Income's Business Model Is Similar To Mine As A Dividend Growth Investor [View article]

Because I live in San Diego I was able to attend Realty Income's recent shareholder meeting.
While I am by no means a shareholder meeting expert,I walked away impressed.
One shareholder/investor asked the CEO John Case, "Not only am I a shareholder but I also invest in rental properties on my own,how are you able to find favorable properties in this business environment"
Mr Case explained "Relationships,we have built ongoing steady relationships over many years with many partners."
    To me that spoke volumes.
DVK, Im curious if you are adding to your O position at these prices OR are you like most people waiting for that correction that will take O below $40 ?

    Thanks for this fine article,
    Bill in San Diego
