  • 3 Blue-Chip DRIP Programs You Should Not Touch [View article]
    Tim,

I own all 3,yet do not drip or direct purchase them.
In many cases you can use a screening tool for "NO FEE" plans.
In some cases simply paying the standard low broker fee, works best

  • Strategies For Dealing With A Possible Market Meltdown [View article]
Great article and food for thought.
I have "broke stride" from the dividend growth investor oath, and taken some profits.
Partially and mostly because I am unemployed.
Mr Buffett liquidated all of my HNZ,no brainer on that one. <redeployed the funds>
I chose to liquidate KMB,UTX,MCD and today VZ .
I have sold all of the above at the high or close to the high.
While some people will scream,I am crazy,I am simply re deploying the funds into other stocks that I like. <monthly payers>
Purchased LINE and LNCO 2 days ago,as they are under negative hype pressure.
A bit of a gamble for the conservative me,but I will watch these closely and take no more than a 10% loss on both combined.
    I welcome thoughts,suggestions,oh and a job opportunity...

I also feel that if or when rates rise,a 5% passbook savings account would equal a 7500-8000 DOW.
All retirees are being forced to use the DOW to replace passbook savings.

I am a huge fan of common sense investing.
    Chowder has his rule.
    David Fish has his rules.
Bill in San Diego the novice, uses KISS/BIG Picture rule.
1, Even if oil drops, most of the majors are now into natural gas.
Is there a cheaper sector right now PE wise than oil ?
2, Even if tobacco sales drop off, sweet and legalized Maryjane is right around the corner.
Your government is drooling to tax Maryjane,as there isnt much left they can tax you on.
    Vice thrives in every economy.
3, Every last one of us loves to eat,and we continue to populate the world,,K,GIS,KRFT,MCD....
4 Most of us like to be well groomed and healthy PG,JNJ,PFE,GSK,CLX,CL
5 ALL of us will age UHT,SNH,OHI
Im not sure I bought any of the above stocks at the right time.
I think Peter Lynch would be proud of me.

  • Twenty Dividend Stocks I Recently Purchased For My IRA Rollover [View article]
    DGI,
As a novice and student here,a few observations.
You sure did buy some great companies.
Im not sure you did buy them at great prices.
That being said,as the market climbs higher and higher <i feel 165k new jobs is a joke for 25 million unemployed>,i am continually tweaking my portfolio to quality of the quality, even if Im paying too much.
If the levee breaks, I want to be in KO,XOM,COP,CVX, you get my drift..and not NLY,AGNC, and the yield of the day...

    I direct purchase SO.
    LONG SO
Stones tickets are $600 and up this time, and are NOT moving well.
Hate to use the word GREED,but they sure are milking every last ounce out of a career.
I strongly support local rock/blues and jazz musicians who are realistic about ticket prices...
Its only rock and roll, but I like it...

    Mr Fish,
As always thanks for your help, and helping the small guys like me.
Can we expect to see the Chowder Rule reinserted in the future ?
For those of us who follow Chowder it is a important tool.

    Many Thanks,
    Bill
