  • Marrying The 4% Rule With Dividend Growth Investing [View article]
My investment mission statement is to achieve a overall 4% dividend income, with a target of 4% overall growth.
I need the 4% growth to keep pace with inflation, and the 4% dividend income to survive.
It is a high wire balancing act,as for every 2.8% share of KO,I must offset that with a 5% share of T.
I have a eclectic mix,but as of 12/1,I am meeting my objective for the year.
Goals are much easier to meet in a bull market.

  • Why Did Warren Buffett Purchase Exxon Mobil Stock? [View article]
Of all the analysis on the Buffett purchased of XOM shares I find this to be the most complete.
Ironically the day after the purchase RDS/B reacted the most positive of any and all energy companies.
That hints to me that whatever XOM and RDS/B have in common is the driving force behind Buffett's move.
I believe that to be nat gas, every bit as much as tough to extricate oil.
Rex has openly told shareholders that XOM is making moves for the long range future.
That isnt always what shareholders want to hear, thinking XOM should pay 5% T like dividends.

  • Exxon Mobil: Jim Chanos Vs. Warren Buffett, Which One Is Right? [View article]
Although people hate T Rex,he has openly reminded people XOM had made moves for the LONG TERM good of the company.
My guess is Mr Buffett feels those moves will pay off.
RDS Shell has reminded investors of the same thing.
