  • Why REIT Returns Have Been Systematically Better Than Non-REITs [View article]
    Brad,
    You are awesome.
As stated in my previous posts,I feel health care reits, when carefully chosen, are a no brainer.
Our aging population, provides constant new income.
HTA has run up 21%,in a very short time.
    Am I too late ?
Reasonable buy point on pull back ?
    I got into OHI late...
Also,.I met the "CHOWDER" this week for some lunch
Awesome guy,,hope to buy you lunch someday too.

  • The Market Is Advancing: Is It Time To Sell? [View article]
Being unemployed,I locked in some gains.
While I am a eternal optimist bull, unemployed equates to being very cautious.
In each case, I simply sold 1/3 or 1/2 half my shares.
In each case I immediately entered a new buy order to re-buy these stocks if the market should correct.
The problem with cash on the sidelines is "Now that do I do?"
Sure,I have locked in my gains but now how do I earn 4% on that money ?
In some instances I added to my mutual funds, with my gains.

  • Is Freeport-McMoRan's Stock A Good Buy At $33 A Share? [View article]
I bought prior to 12/5 and have taken it on the chin.
However many major players are buying,so I feel your analysis could be very accurate.

  • General Electric: An Update On The Perfect Stock [View article]
Love him or hate him Jeffy Jeff isnt leaving.
For me the positives outweigh the negatives.
Read all that GE is involved with, read all their cost cutting measures, know they are building plants OUTSIDE the USA to become more global AND enjoy cheap, cheap labor, throw in the fact that the most owned stock by any congressman or senator <yes they LIE too> is GE,,,know they have uprighted the consumer credit and banking division,,,and I see GE as a LONG TERM BUY AND HOLD.....
Im not sure it is my pick for 2013,but "IN THE BIG PICTURE", I see GE as a core holding....

  • 5 ETFs For Retirement Income For Less Active Investors [View article]
    R.S.
I think you stepped into a hornets nest on this one.
I like to use funds to fill in the holes on stocks that I may have missed out on.
As a example CVX,which trades well over $100 per share
I LOVE CVX,but my bankroll leaves me out of many stocks priced over $100 per share.
HARD for me to buy 200 or 300 shares, like I can buy 200 or 300 share of T or MO.
So,my alternative is to buy VWINX,which holds CVX as one of their top holdings.
Granted my share ownership is greatly diluted, but Im not investing 33k to own a piece of the pie.
Some of my favorite funds to "go along with" or compliment my core holding of stocks are ,,,TGINX,MWTRX,TGMNX,M...
I am always open to your analysis of my choices.

Thanks as always for your fine work,
Bill in America's finest city, San Diego...

  • My Dividend Growth Portfolio Strategy [View article]
I have a similar plan, but with less money.
I have integrated several ETF's,CEF's,Mutuals into my plan.
This fills in the gaps on stocks that I cant afford to purchase at their highs,OR on stocks that I dont have enough knowledge of.
For instance,I could never accurately pick stocks in China, yet Mathews dividend china fund can.
There are still holes in my plan, but Im working toward my goal.

    Bret,
    Great article
Since I DRIP PG,I hardly check the share price, but know that I am ahead.
Goro and Fly do interest me.
I bought FCX before the acquisition,so Im still licking my wounds on that one.
