  • Don't Buy This Dip: The Fed Is Not Your Friend  [View article]
If they want inflation this is the answer. At least pay off my generation's titanic school loan debt.

Good article, thank you Mr. Stockman

Listen to reason. Hope your BBRY investment is flourishing

I have no vested interest in $BBRY whatsoever.

Btw—read my old posts. Most are about Blackberry and how awesome they are.

One can make money in pump&dumps. Does that mean they are good investments? I have made lots of money in BBRY just selling options. I wouldn't add it to my 401k however. Congratulations on your gains. Sell some covered calls or take some profits until this cat establishes a base above 10 imo.

There's an all new generation of BBRY cheerleaders. I don't miss these discussions. Marcap, MrKnowitall, Andreas and some others are the voices of reason. I was here when BBRy was 18 and was here when it hit 11,10,9 etc...

I have a Q10 and it's great and terrible (great when it works. Otherwise stay clear from BBRY phones).
BBRY is through as a major player in its current industry--Whatever that is anymore. Still a trading vehicle people. Don't fall in love.

  • 3 Reasons You Shouldn't Count BlackBerry Out  [View article]
the co. should be broken up. MSFT buys the hardware/BES side and NOK buys the software (BB10) side. Otherwise no one is left to help them up. They need IBM or some other co. that needs diversification in mobile but even then, BBRY can't seem to prove themselves in the world market very well. Only thing saving them without MSFT or IBM's IV bag is some stellar BES subs. I'm still holding stock like a hopeful fool (with puts and short calls mind you) but I'm thinking of dumping soon. Been watching it bleed for too long.

  • A leaked image appears to provide full specs for the BlackBerry A10 (BBRY -1.8%): the image indicates the A10 will sport Qualcomm's (QCOM) dual-core MSM8960 processor (same as the Z10), a 5" 720p display (many high-end Android phones now have 1080p displays), 16GB of storage, and an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. BGR provided a few details about the A10 last week, while adding it's the only completely new BB10 phone set to launch in the remainder of 2013.  [View news story]
No innovative design (looks like any other smartphone) and no competitive hardware. Still holding stock but have been rolling over puts, and ITM covered calls on half position. What is Blackberry doing in hardware again?

  • Carving Up The World Smart Device Market Shows Opportunity For BlackBerry And Nokia  [View article]
"this was BBRY chance to get back, Apple and Samsung have been out for months with nothing new to show for, they will be back in the coming months and then it's all over and as such the stock is kaput."

They had a perfect window of opportunity didn't they...Now we can sit and hope for a miraculous BES order(s) or Q5 orders or a strategic partner. All unlikely until they ditch hardware. I love my Q10 but I'm sorry, they just aren't good at hardware. The fan-made concepts are prettier than what BBRY has been promoting and that's an understatement! Their handsets aren't ugly, they just aren't competitive either. Maybe they can buy out Jony Ive for a billion [US] dollars and get rid of that useless sack of talent - Alicia Keys. I'd take Fred Savage over Alicia Keys for goodness sake!

They really and truly missed their shot. Now they have to compete against anything Apple and Samsung has coming out in the coming months. Who's going to wait for an ugly A10 (not that anyone will even know it's coming out!) when they can get an iPhone 5s or a Samsung Phallusy S 5

  • BlackBerry: There's Still Hope  [View article]
Even if we see increased hardware shipments, by that time the ASPs of said devices will have been deteriorated by time and lack of interest anyways (contributing to an even larger Q2 miss). I can see these devices gaining traction as they are good devices and the app market is growing every day ONLY if they put Alicia Keys in a skiff back to Easter Island. They NEED NEED NEED to do something about their marketing. Be sarcastic like Apple was when they were releasing those smarmy comms smearing PCs. Do SOMETHING aggressive. Their marketing is pathetic. Even HTC's marketing is catchy: "It's everything your phone isn't". Pay off the vendors to put their products in the store where people will actually notice them. At&T stores are the worst about this I have found. One AT&T store had the Z10 in the front but it was a model hand-set and the other one I go to had the hand-sets behind the counter with virtually no eye-catcher show-casing them. I don't pay attention to LG phones at all but noticed how sweet LG's new phone looks.
    Get a clue BlackBerry.
BlackBerry's marketing, in a word: sucks.

    End of Rant.

It should be taller, I agree, but only for screen size's sake. No more buttons please. The touch screen works just fine for selecting and editing. IMO the entire handset should be 10-15% bigger. At least longer...

  • Is It Time To Double Down On BlackBerry?  [View article]
Which is why there is a lot more downside until news comes out. Buying now is just too risky. Maybe for a swing it is good. I added some more today for a swing, but don't plan on holding through this week. They have no phones that matter in the market through to Q2 earnings.
I honestly don't have any faith that the Q5 will do well because there's no way to advertise for it just due to the assumption that the market it's aimed at doesn't spend all their free time watching TV's 'America's Got Talent' while eating their McDouble. Unless BES really catches on, Q2 will be disastrous also. He guided even on this quarter and we missed by .03 if you discount Venezuela debacle. Extrapolate that and we have an even deeper miss this next earnings now that the Q10 is rolled out where it matters.
I'll play another straddle for earnings since it saved me well and good this last earnings (made 75% on those ITM options I sold too), but I don't intend to hold stock again. Not without puts at least.

Side note: met someone here at the ATT store (the worker) who had a Q10. He says he loves it as well.

    Indeed MrK

also Wilsonia "it doesn't get PC viruses." Is completely factual as viruses written for PC's won't execute on Macs. As Macs and iPhones gain more users it will become very profitable to write malware for them.
