    I agree. I do not think Statcounter is a good source. I don't give any weight to any articles using statcounter as "validation"

  • Reasons To Keep BlackBerry In Your Portfolio [View article]
    @Noodlez

    I've considered this too but I am also considering BBRY not losing momentum for sometime after Q1 earnings. While it makes sense to see how they do through the next few quarters (for a short stock holder), Q1 will be a big indicator of BBRY's vector going forward while taking into account the Q10 not released in USA as well as the rollout of the Q5 and BES subscriptions throughout the year. In addition to more hardware releases they have their 'Aristo' coming out (rumored: Christmas) which is a big deal in my opinion. They have an extensive product pipeline for the next year and beyond that I just don't see losing steam. I see the Q10 U.S. debut adding big momentum for FY13Q2 as well has quarter 3 as it gains traction here and everywhere else. One has considered that those waiting for the Q10 and deciding that the Z10 is what they wanted after-all (such is the case with Lyogi(?)) adding to Z10 sales - eitherway it's BBRY share.
    I'm definitely not a professional by any stretch but I think it would be plain stupid to hold short through Q2 earnings "just to see if they fail" or after; barring natural disasters, catastrophes and server meltdowns.

    Indeed Jack, while very very forward looking they are compelling to consider. However, I have not seen numbers from QNX licensing. Anyone know? I don't actually think it's all that much per application.

    I agree jelly bean. Probably not going to happen. Dreamy article but if we are to entertain the idea then I'd say not less than 25$ a share would make me happy.

  • Apple (AAPL) releases Tim Cook's official statement (.pdf) to the Senate ahead of his Tuesday appearance at a hearing on corporate tax payments. Among other things, Apple claims it paid ~$6B in federal taxes in FY12 and a 30.5% effective federal tax rate, and that its foreign units don't engage in the practices the hearing focuses on (the shifting of IP to offshore havens, revolving loans from subsidiaries, etc). The company proposes a tax system that's "revenue neutral, eliminates all tax expenditures, lowers tax rates and implements a reasonable tax on foreign earnings." (previous[View news story]
    I think the point he is trying to make Vegas Ben is if you can't party at your own house you are going to a friend's...so to speak. They will find a way to dodge restrictions/codes and taxes. Either way there is going to be pollution until the entire world abides by an effective standard of emissions control.

  • BlackBerry Goes On The Offensive [View article]
    Perhaps Greg but the few friends I have talked to all say they are very interested in Blackberry again if it has what the others have (Modern design and ecosystem et al). I think a lot of people still remember BlackBerry as being "it" until iPhone came onto the scene. If you're not business then it all comes down to: "what's the sweet looking phone you have in your hand? BLACKBERRY?! really?...blah blah blah" People typically don't see a commercial for a phone and decide that's what they want right away. They wait to see it in their friends' and families' hands. It took a year or so before I saw EVERYONE with an iPhone. Of course we won't see "everyone" with a BB either just because of the nature of the market anymore. Apple timed that debut perfectly and I don't think we will see another mass-migration again like what we saw with the first iPhone for some time.
    I never owned a BlackBerry to be honest with you but my sister had a Pearl and my brother had a Bold and I liked them both considerably. If they release a slider I will be with BlackBerry come hell or high water.

    Indeed! This is the only thing I am unhappy about - the white colors which are exclusive to Verizon! I desire a white Q10

    Nevermind, found it. It's from February:
    http://onforb.es/ZMQz9D

    It's a biased article.While interesting it's not an end-all. "It is important to note that the warning applies only to PIN-to-PIN and has no impact on other features of BlackBerry."

    You had my attention there for a moment.

    Indeed. one of the reasons I chose this stock in the first place. To my dismay though, I got sucked into the story. The premiums are rock-solid for how cheap it is.
