I think it's a very positive move for the major labels. I'm not sure it will stop the bleeding as it's an unprotected platform, but it definitely gets the music to its listeners, one that can be tailored and expanded upon. It will be interesting to see where this leads, as the My Space crowd is a younger demographic, and most of us really don't care about a vast back catalog.
Another irony here is, as of now indies don't have access to this model. And judging from what I hear on the radio, the indie bands are really where the great new music is coming from.
