God help us all. And please unblind Mr. President so he can see Bernanke, Paulson, Geithner, Bair for who they really are and what they have done to this great country of ours.
Here we go again. Didn't Dell learn their lesson with Plasma TVs?
Put your resources to better use, Dell. If Zune can't touch iPod, you actually think Adamo will make a dent on Apple's MacBook line? (BTW, I know a few people who bought Apple's latest laptops JUST TO RUN WINDOWS. How ironic.)
Maybe Dell will buyout Palm and take a stab at iPhone, and get destroyed there, too.
The End Is Near for Sun; IBM's Its Best Option [View article]
Very poor taste on your part to show that picture. What the F were you thinking? Don't you EVER make a mockery of tragedies where people's lives were lost.
IBM Interested in Sun? A Flaming Red Herring [View article]
Oh my I sense a lot of anger, uneasiness, anxiety... Are you holding shares from the dot com days, or do you have a gun pointed at your head since your short position in JAVA is about to destroy you?
Dude, you're like the laughing stock on all the message boards!
That's a strong insinuation you're making about Sun intentionally leaking such news. You'd think WSJ, AP, Reuters, etc. are that stupid to report something like this if it was "trial balloon?" These are not no-name I don't know who you are blogs.
You'd figure both Sun and IBM would have come out with statements by now putting an end to the rumor if it wasn't true.
Protecting Yourself from a Gold ETF Bubble [View article]
Smart money took advantage of the dip and went into gold and gold mining stocks yesterday. Few realize that for nearly every gold miner, they make money even if gold is $600.
When gold went above $700, I heard the same bubble talk. Then again as gold broke $800. Same thing as gold broke $900. Now that gold broke $1000, did you expect anything different? I'm just waiting to hear bubble talk again when gold breaks $1100. Gotta love it when new bubble talks come out on down days. Folks, corrections are good. I'd be running scared if gold just pointed straight up with no corrections, because that's a sign of a real bubble.
If you're afraid of this bubble talk, then you've probably been sitting on the sideline since gold started its bull run in the $200's.
People need to lose this "love/hate" attitude towards gold and just go with numbers. Numbers don't lie.
Nova Chemicals Buyout: Good News for Teck Cominco Shareholders? [View article]
I fail to see your connection between NCX and TCK, aside from both being Canadian (one could argue whether NCX is Canadian with HQ in Pittsburgh). The debt structures of the two companies are vastly different. Only a small portion of NCX's total debt is due this year. They needed to raise 100 million by end of Feb. to satisfy debt covenant, which they did. For the late investors in NCX, we saw a $6 billion a year company with market cap of $100 million. It was a given they would be able to raise $100 million somehow. After that, they need to raise another $150mil by June. With worldwide inventory of polyethylene (their main product) down to record levels and price on the rise, raising another $150 mil didn't seem impossible. And they're able to this without dilution or selling assets.
These sums are a lot less than what TCK is facing.
You make it sound like NCX was headed for bankruptcy had IPIC not come to the rescue. I think not only would NCX survive without IPIC, but the shareholder end up better than $6. Not that I'm complaining for making 300% overnight.
May I point out that "Sold by US companies" and "Made in USA" are totally different. If Apple makes everything in China but it posts record sales as a US company, does that help American manufacturing jobs?
Damn right this economic stimulus bill should require Made in USA. Let's stop giving jobs away for corporate profits.
Maybe we should think about different (higher) taxes for corporation that outsource or manufacture everything overseas.
I applaud Intel for reversing course and bringing back jobs to the States. We need more of this.
Bank of America Continues to Stand Strong [View article]
You're right on the dot. Not only does it make no sense to nationalize banks the size of BAC, it would indicate the start of a socialist government movement. At that point, there will be a lot more to worry about than the stock market.
BAC and bank stocks might have a sideway movements for a while, but they look like buys of a lifetime at these prices. I would be buyers of BAC, WFC, USB, BBT, and even C. I would not be buyer of JPM because of the backroom dealings with Paulson & Co. regarding Bear Sterns, Lehman, and WaMu. We have to stand on solid moral grounds, and JPM is looking very shaky.

You got that right, bro! Look at what they did to WaMu bondholders. The government has in the course of a few months destroyed the fundamental way corporations raise working capital. In the future it's going to cost a lot more to attract buyers to corporate debt.
I urge every investor to think real hard if they can afford to lose the money put into DRYS. If you won't feel any pain losing it all, then this speculative play (and that's what it is) could very well be worth the risk. But if this is money you cannot afford to lose (e.g. your retirement funds, kids' college funds), don't mess with DRYS. There are so many better companies with solid balance sheets at bargain-basement prices.
DRYS lacks a certain transparency or trustworthiness that scares the hell out of me. Good old George laughed all the way to the bank before (at investor's expenses); he can do it again.
Of course, never ever bet the farm on this one horse (fleet of ships).
