    Cool in its own way.

But, not an iPhone type killer app that changes the world.

Apple has patents re VR and AR. And, they will do it right...not clunky glasses.

Just one more uncertain thing in a world that is becoming increasingly uncertain.

The lemmings are running to to dollar.

Will the dollar prove to be certain?

Is there any other store of value that is certain in the face of uncertainty and as uncertainty swells and whirls?

  • The Swiss National Bank's Move And What It Means For Gold Investors [View article]
The Chinese know what most of us know, gold will become more expensive. They just have a longer timeline...and they have a different reason for buying gold than most retailers....I'm not going to peg the $$ in my bank account to make it a reserve currency.

  • Apple: Why So Bearish? [View article]
It seems to me that the share price is always driven down b4 the quarterly meetings. This is a stock where many people buy high and sell low because they don't understand the company or they listen to analysts.

Truly, if analysts were good at picking stocks, they would not be analysts...they'd be retired or investing for themselves.

  • Apple: Very Attractive Value But Based On Growth Expectations Dependent On Continued Innovation [View article]
I don't know that anything will be a game changer for AAPL. I any long since the 1980's and what has gone on in the last several years is 'interesting', in the Chinese proverb sense.

I hope I'm wrong, but it seems to me that AAPL will not get its due until there is: a) A product or slew of products that replace the phone, or b) It is clear that Samsung is no longer understood as a challenger.

The Narrative that holds AAPL back is promulgated here by Dezee and MB and a few others and is somehow understood as 'True' by the street: Apple is a one hit wonder. Nothing could be further from the truth. The company is innovative and has a very clear Vision and Mission which they pull of incredibly well.

I wonder how much jealousy plays into this? One can admire or be jealous. I choose to admire what leadership at Apple has done and is doing. It is a little overwhelming: This is the most successful company in history.

Are the products and software perfect? No. Are they AMAZING? Yes. Do other manufacturers have better products in some niches...Absolutely. But, taken as a whole now and in the reasonable future, Apple makes the best integrated personal technology products.

  • Mobile Platforms And Technical Debt [View article]
I will add something that may be of interest: A lot of my son's college friends got together at our house. They were talking about the apps that the HS kids were into. That is a sea change. When have college kids been interested in what HS kids were up to?

Maybe you've done this before, but could you say more about the implications of messaging apps as platforms.

I read that and it sounds very important; I think I'm 'too old' to get it intuitively. I don't really use messaging apps other than what is in the OS. Due to my son's influence, email is out, except for business.

But I see my son continuously on his iPhone with friends sending snapchats.

For business, is this what Linkedin is trying to do?

Dana-I believe you have solid expertise in some things...you do not, however, seem to understand Apple. I believe you understand all the facts, so I'll not repeat them.

But, believing that AAPL has peaked tells me that you are missing something.

Are you seeing Apple through the lens of comparing them to any other company that has ever existed by missing the levels of integration that pervade Apple from its core to its interactions with the 'outside environment'?
