  • Chesapeake Energy: Falling Knife Or Should You Buy Now? [View article]
Westelk, you would rather he take a page out of AKM's book and just make up answers? For instance, say the Mississippi Lime holdings are worth 30 billion, the Oil Services assets are worth 9 billion and the Permian was worth 5 billion?

  • How To Retire At 30! [View article]
Any investment with a 24% payout yield should not be considered safe. Moreover, if you bought MORL one year ago, your capital loss would have basically cancelled out your income from the payouts, not accounting for any tax implications.

It may turn out to still be a decent investment, but it sure is risky. Which at his age isn't the worst thing.

  • SeaWorld: A Shamu-Sized Opportunity For Investors [View article]
    Disclosure: I am short SEAS.

I haven't even seen Blackfish yet and based solely on reactions of Facebook friends it gives me enough confidence to be short. I live in Texas, not exactly a liberal/PETA hotspot. Even if attendance is not significantly impacted (which is not likely), I can't imagine anyone wanting to pay for a piece of SeaWorld merchandise that will be guaranteed to bring them public backlash. This will take years to heal.

  • Demographics, Manias And The Short Case For Apple Explained [View article]
One of your more bearable articles Mr. Blair, I actually enjoyed it.

However, I think the focus on numbers is a bit overdone. If you think iPhone numbers are too aggressive, which they possibly are, it is easily cancelled out by the potential of new products to create new revenue. Sure, it is risky to assume future innovations before they are annouced, but I will continue to hold shares based on Apple's track record of introducing game changing products.

Regardless, you will continue to have the last laugh as your articles are continually some of the most popular on SA. A nice hedge to your short position.

  • The Rumored iPhablets Expected In 2014 Will Not Save Apple's Bacon [View article]
It is hard for me to understand the market share numbers. Of all my friends and family, I would guess that around 25% of them DO NOT have iPhones. Everyone else has iPhones. The people I work with, my friends from high school, friends from college, the older family I tailgated next to yesterday - almost all iPhones. Perhaps I live in a bubble but I doubt it. Sometimes it is better to look around you rather than trust numbers you see on a pie chart.

  • Why You Should Buy And Hold Twitter [View article]
Bingo. There was a small earthquake in my area the other day. First place I checked to make sure I wasn't dreaming? Twitter. Within 20 seconds there were already people tweeting about it. Instant, relevant and searchable news is what makes Twitter so great, not to mention the fact that all the younger people I know are on twitter much more than Facebook these days.

  • Samsung Is Apple's Worst Nightmare [View article]
I think you are overstating the value of vertical integration here. VI can be effective in trimming costs, but severely limits mobility. What happens when your in house supplier is no longer the market leader? Your decisions become influenced by your desire to keep money in house, and quality suffers. Keeping suppliers as third parties enables a company to quickly move to different technologies and ensure they are paying competitive rates for the best products.

Bottom line, VI is much more desirable in a commodities type company that can ensure its end products won't drastically change in a short amount of time.

  • Consider Apple: A Gold iPhone 5S Will Save The Day [View article]
Jack Baker and Glenway Fripp hit the nail on the head here. Just because you will be buying a case does not mean you stop caring about how the phone looks. I have a black 4S, most of the time in a rubber skin. However, I take it out all the time when I am at home just to admire the feel of the phone in all its naked glory. And yes, I care about what color it is. The aesthetic design and the ease of use is something I will continue to pay a premium for the next time I upgrade.
