Raising the flag for the little Aussie spender, I would like to point out there are real assets on the other side of the debt ledger. Australian superannuation fund assets (the second best tax effective savings vehicle after housing) hit $1.2 trillion at end-September. These debt numbers are a little misleading due to the distorting savings policies pursued by our fearless leaders.
Gold ETF Adds a Little Metal to Its Inventory [View article]
Yeah, but it just doesn't make sense that we can have trading days of up to 20m GLD shares over the past six months and yet an impossibly few new ounces of the yellow metal are going into the vault. When you compare the rapid build up of inventory in the six months leading up to March, it just doesn't add up. And the GLD mouthpiece(s) say nothing, which only goes to encourage wingnuts such as the guys above who suggest that the gold in the vault is just someone's imagination. GLD should explain WTF is going on. I can well imagine that gold bears are creating short positions in the ETF by borrowing stock to short GLD. Should this be allowed. These people are just "creating" gold or printing money.
As Gold Broke Threshold, ETFs Rallied [View article]
Am I missing something here. Gold has just gone on the biggest run we have seen over the past six months and yet there has been very little change in the emount of gold in the GLD spdr vaults. During the prior six months, the number of gold bars surged exponentially until it hit around 36m oz...and then it has just stuck there. What is happening? Has the manager run out of space in the vault? Has there been a big seller? How can we explain the very large volumes traded in the secondary market with the virtual gold ceiling in the amount of bullion in the vaults in London? What am I missing?

Why go offshore for oil exposure in Brazil? Why not follow companies that are doing low-cost infill exploration onshore where a well costs US$2m a pop to drill and complete? The onshore sector has much better economics. Check out Eromanga, ERHYF and erh:au, an Australian company with acreage in onshore Brazil.
