Interesting article but everyone needs to know that APC missed the analyst mean estimate by a large margin. ($0.40 vs $1.26). That is why the stock is taking a huge beating today (down 1.7% at 1:17pm EST).

There is also the Algerian tax issue that resulted in the company setting aside $100mm in 4Q. Total liability ranges from $260mm to $450mm. It is also being contested due to a stabilization clause in their contract, so they may also be some relief.
Bottom line is if you are a long-term holder, you may be able to make a great return. However, if you are short-term oriented, you may want to look the other way as Wall Street is waiting to see what the NewCo will look like after it reduces debt by divesting non-core assets.
