  • Apple Is Being Psychologically Crushed By Samsung [View article]
We'll see if Apple still has the edge on innovation... if the iPhone 5s doesn't come out a couple of features ahead of Samsung S4 after all this money and time, then I guess you can determine that Apple's days of leading innovation is behind them.

    My price target is $2199/share.

Don't ask me when. I'm just doing the same thing that wall street analysts who get paid hundreds of thousands of bucks + bonuses do.

  • EMC (EMC +1.1%) and VMware's (VMW +5.6%) Pivotal Initiative will be taken public, EMC CEO Joe Tucci discloses during the companies' investor day (webcast). EMC will own 69% of the spinoff, and VMware 31%. Pivotal is headlined by EMC's Greenplum analytics database/hardware unit, but also features a slew of other product lines aimed at companies working on big data projects or developing Web/cloud apps. Given the hype surrounding Pivotal's addressable markets, the post-IPO valuation could be huge. [View news story]
I bought shares of both EMC and VMW during the recent dips and my plan was to sell them on their way up. So are you saying that it's a good idea to hold them to recieve the new company shares which could potentially have a price boost during the IPO? I presume that the share price of EMC and VMW would drop relative to the IPO of the new company's share price? Wanted to know the overall impact on the value of my money in EMC and VMW. Thanks.

  • McDonald's Profit Margins Are Going Down [View article]
MCD is a long term play - dividend growth stock with strong cash flows. Bought the stock at ~$86 when it dropped from what? $109? It may take a dip when the bull run ends or if there is some negative earnings report but you get paid to hold the stock and there is plenty of room for the company to grow. I wish I had more companies like MCD in my portfolio.

Right now I'm looking to book profits on some of my non-dividend stocks and move them over to stable dividend growth stocks with strong cash flows and low PE so that I can get paid to hold them during a possible bear market.... on the look out for such companies. Currently long MCD, COP, ABBV, DIS

  • Tesla: The Ultimate Disrupter [View article]
FYI, Nikola Tesla passed away in 1943 and isn't the founder of Tesla Motors. As the man has been dead for the last 70 years, he is unable to manage the day to day operations of Tesla Motors. This is a task handled by the founder of Tesla Motors - Elon Musk (No relation with Nikola Tesla).

  • Apple: Buy The Steak - Hold For The Coming Sizzles! [View article]
As investors who bought lots of AAPL stock, I think we are desperate to hear good news to keep the hope alive. I feel the stock will move sideways for the next two quarters until sentiment improves. Right now, there is no catalyst for sentiment to improve. They need to come out with either considerable investor friendly moves like dividend increase, stock buy backs and stock splits or come out with a new killer iProduct. My guess is that none of this will happen within the next two quarters so we can expect AAPL to languish in these levels. AAPL didn't announce any new investor friendly moves in the investor conference so why should we expect anything till the next one? Any new product on the horizon will probably not be announced this year and we might just see horizontal improvements to existing products like the iPhone, iPad and macbook. Hopefully the market does not tank this year due to the QE bubble or some other reason. If the market tanks, then AAPL is probably going to crash with it.

    I'm long AAPL.

  • The Debt Paradox That Everyone Should Be Aware Of [View article]
If SS is solvent, then didn;t the President say back in July 2012 that he cannot guarantee Social Security checks will go out to retirees in August. He explained it himself by saying that there wouldn't be money in the coffers. So wasn't that a possibility if not "threat" of default on its debt obligations?

I was thinking the other day that I need to have some hard assets like land and things that would gain value in an inflationary environment.... the large farm you mentioned reminded me that cash has no value in such environments and you need "stuff"

Can someone please explain to me why progressives keep stating that social security is "insolvent" and therefore we don't have a problem with social security? I'm asking this as a serious question because I listen to a few left leaning media outlets to get a perspective from sides I differ with so please refrain from personal bashing. I like to know what their rational and logical arguments are to make such claims. I believe even Paul Krugman says the same thing and I keep hearing guests on KPFT Pacifica and Democracy Now! hosted by Amy Goodman say the same thing. I like to know on what basis they make such claims as they seem to take any talk of national debt as a light thing.

Do you keep a copy of this in a text file on your computer? You seem to copy paste the same thing on almost every TSLA discussion board on SA.

    >>If GM lost that percentage, would anyone say the stock tanked? If Apple or IBM did the same, it would be perhaps normal market fluctuation.

umm, yes. AAPL also tanked in january by ~10% after earnings report. Just do a simple google search to find multiple news reports on the same. You sound so angry with the mere use of this term. Just goes on to show that some TSLA stock holders live in a parrallel universe where everything is dandy and this is the greatest car ever with no fundamental issues.
