  • Why We Think Citigroup Could Outperform This Peer [View article]
It really seems you are acknowledging Santander is the very best and City is now trying to catch up with them.

Maybe they will and MAYBE they will not. Santander is not going to sit still and wait and as a shareholder I do not want to sit here and wait for City while Santander's management builds solid expansion throughout the world and pays dividends while conducting its affairs with responsibility and integrity. Why waste investment money on an unproven recovery in this enviornment.

    Santander never Needed a bailout.

Very good to receive this rather comprehensive business report with the many detailed activities, I need to read it again but it does seem all parts are moving along well. I was worried over the stock price but I guess I just have to be patient.

  • Micron: Maybe It Isn't Different This Time [View article]
MU has said loud and clear their future is to be built by MU building strong long term customer relations with MU products designed to solve customer requirements for design requirements. A year ago they said they had two customers paying them premiums NOT to shrink the nm size as they needed time to qualify the lower cost product into their equipment.

They were apparently very committed to this business approach and it would seem to make sense. Intel had great product but the mobile market did not buy it.
I do not seem to find much guidance from MU regarding their current strategy and any resulting customer wins so I cut my position 95% several months ago. I do believe we need to see some solid news from the Company before we can believe in more strong future gains.

  • Sterne Agee defends Micron following Samsung report [View news story]
Samsung has been building a 7 billion dollar CITY and factories in western China for well over 2 yrs now. One reason for this effort was their desire to have additional capacity for storage chips. I am so surprised not to see some recognition of this factor in all the expert's hopes for MU. Western China ships to Amsterdam via rail over the silk road at lower prices and time than ocean freight.

MU has been my darling for well over a year but I now own 5% of my former position.

Samsung has the customers and their purchase orders seem to flow to Samsung rather than MU which I assume has extra capacity at this moment.

Please tell me why I am wrong to have lost my confidence in MU reaching a dominant position in view of the Samsung competiyion

  • My New Micron Price Targets [View article]
I love MU and want to continue to believe. The rise has been a great one and I feel very fortunate to have participated mightily.

But there were moments of terror when the value of MU's acquisition was momentarily questioned. Its future was questioned by many analysts and the momentum halted and revisited before progressing upwards.
I was severely disappointed in the 3rd quarter report. I had come to expect a high single digit increase in revenues some from current customers contract priciing and volume and more from product upgrades. I also expected that new product developement and new customer relationships would be announced that had enhanced 3rd quarter results and would expand into the future. I also expected to see margin enhancement from lower depreciation due to the lower cost of the acquired facilities.
Not very much of this seems to have happened and not very much seems to be anticipated or at the least worthy of discussion.
I realize it is early in MU's career with this acquisition but it reminds me so much of Intel during the period it was supposed to dominate with its new products and factories and could not entice new customers to make this happen.
Hope I am wrong but I would also mention for the future that Samsung is another 1.5 years along in construction of its 7billion new city and chip factories in Western China. This is bound to influence the future competitive factors.

  • Dividend Growth Investing: Creating A Portfolio [View article]
Bob Johnson This is a great article. I have always believed and practiced dividend investing that should not be limited to stocks paying 1-3%. It does however take some years of investing to learn to eliminate the the true dogs that can drag down the total portfolio performance. Your article has given me some really great thoughts on this subject so dear to me.

  • Santander Consumer May dividend could be the last for a while [View news story]
Very good to know the Fed is on the job but very disappointing to find the Parent is not more supportive of SC's decision to start a dividend. Perhaps they are reviewing the matter and will clarify their reasoning. The announcement of the dividend most certainly improved the desirability of the SC stock.

Short Interest in common stock was 4/15/2014 = 28,156 K, 4/30/2014 = 26,980 K, Total Outstanding 3/31/2014 = 176,416 K. Very high percentage for a stock doubling in volume and revenue. I most certainly wish I had seen this earlier as I added to my very long position in early May.

  • Magnum Hunter Resources' (MHR) CEO Gary Evans on Q1 2014 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
Very disappointing to see close to 100% increases in production and revenue and none flowing to the bottom line. (only interest increases and losses on the property dispositions ) I know this was forecast but it is still disappointing and the bottom line forecast is not discussed, only additional borrowings.

  • About The Intel Overcapacity [View article]
Apple and Samsung own the mobile market and for lots of reasons have gotten along swimmingly without much of Intel's help for quite a few years. Intel always has the best coming next year but no one wants to buy it when next year becomes this year. While ARHM went to $54.

Micron has product and customers and market share. Micron has customers that pay a premium not to have to switch to 16nm chips.

Micron has low cost due to their new acquisition's bargin cost. Micron does not need Intel but it may be a good fit for both of them.

Paul McWilliams said the easy money for Micron was over at $18-19. January 7th Micron reports earnings. It really does appear earnings and projections will move Micron higher.

  • My Takeaways From The Intel Investor Meeting [View article]
Russ It is an interesting article and certainly a thought that has possibilities and maybee possibilities, Intel buys Micron. WOW

Except for some Jan options I basically gave up on Intel in Sept and invested in Micron which I do believe, as a stock, has a greater future than Intel.

Samsung is the largest producer and Micron the 2nd largest producer of solid state memory. I understand Samsung is currently well into construction of a 7 billion dollar new city and factory in Western China to expand its production of solid state memory.

Intel seems to always want to develop a new product without carefully considering which specific customers are going to use this component in their end product.

Micron has the customers, capacities, cost structure and products to have a great GROWING future something Intel seems to lack

  • Intel And Solid State Drives [View article]
A few months ago I read a article in the WSJ about the 7 billion dollar new city and factory that Samsung was building in Western China primarily for the production of memory chips. With Micron's recent emergence as a major player I wouldnot get excited about a meaningful new opportunity for Intel.
