I was born in Alaska, I lived all over the place as a military kid and returned to Alaska to study Finance at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
I decided near the end of my degree that I didn't want to be a banker or a stock broker or a financial advisor, so I ended up doing remote survey work for the State, road construction inspector, property maintenance and finally a high pressure boiler operator in a coal fired power plant.
I love the "game" of the stock market. I love that how I do is based on how hard I work at it. In the 90's I day traded the .Com bubble and got burned at the end. That led me to completely rethink my investing strategy. I finally settled on Dividend Growth Investing ...More as the safest, best way to get from where I am to that hallowed ground of financial independence and no longer having to work to support my family.
It was a shock to go from sweating second to second, minute to minute price changes to just monitoring the news on the companies I own for dividend announcements. I do, however, still love to spend my mornings reading about stocks, the market in general and dividend investing in particular.
