Harvest Energy: East vs. West in Terms of Oil [View article]
Only time will tell. I believe that the short-sightedness of the west will deal a killing blow to the western economy, especially the US, with it's rapidly inflationary monetary policy. I will wait and see as all these dollars go chasing for the oil that the Koreans and Chinese bought at cheap undervalued prices. China is a Dragon that is waking up, and it's rapidly increasing middle class will drive it's domestic economy forward, as well as consume more and more oil as they buy more and more cars. China will gobble up all the 'extra' oil that the US doesn't consume and then some. Just wait and see, my short-sighted friends. Just wait and see.

I think most of the recent drop in price comes from funds automatically selling at stop loss points. The bad thing is, the paper value is going down. The good news is, I can load up more at a really dirt-cheap price and lower my cost-average.
As far as oil prices go, I think the govt. is engineering the prices to stay low and manageble so that people can be motivated to buy cars and drive to the malls. There is something fishy going on, but there is also opportunity out there.
HTE is under a lot of sell pressure, unfortunately. But it is also getting more attractive at the lower prices since the P/E comes down. I'd definitely buy more. Why? Oil prices cannot, I repeat, cannot stay under $50 for long. I see a rebound in oil in a few months. There is something fishy going on with Oil swapping in the SPR. Which means, govt. is swapping higher quality oil for lower quality oil, and selling the higher quality oil and flooding the market, thus depressing oil prices, yet keeping the inventories at almost the same level with the swapped oil.
