  • Can Nokia Pull Out Of Its Death Spiral? [View article]
I think what nearly everyone forgets is that Nokia is the #1 selling brand in Asia, Europe and South America, so lets not base our valuations on US sales alone. Most people in the emerging markets cannot afford an iPhone and will not spend that kind of money on an iPhone. Emerging markets want a phone that is very dependable, has long battery life, cool apps and a great camera. R, not many people own an independent camera in these countries! Also, Apple products [Mac's, iPad etc] are not big in emerging markets, so a Win8 phone that integrates into their existing ecosystem would be their phone of choice.

Nokia named their other phones "Asha", an Indian name, no doubt because of its vast Indian market.

So I think the valuation of Nokia is much more than its sales in the U.S. alone.

  • Arena Pharmaceuticals' Belviq Approval May Not Match The Hype [View article]
I am a Ph.D. neuroscientist who actually works on the serotonin system. And Im long ARNA. And I dont normally post on blogs. And frankly, I dont much care if the stock price goes up or down, as Im already in the green.

Having said all that, I really wish to comment on this article as there are too few facts in it and not enough actual information. let me explain:

    1. Even a 5% weight loss is better than no loss, and numerous studies have shown that just even 5% weight loss is beneficial for reducing diabetes and high blood pressure.

    2. Locaserin [Belviq] is extremely safe. I mean, blocking 5HT-2c [serotonin-2c] receptors does not harm anything at all.

    3. As a 160 lb woman [5'4"], I certainly have tried to lose that extra 10-20 lbs for at least 25 years [after giving birth to my oldest]. I have tried everything in the book.....diets, exercise, starvation etc etc, but those pounds dont come off. I myself would be HAPPY to pop a pill for 2 years to loose 16 lbs [and diet/exercise], especially knowing that this drug is safe.

    4. Moreover, as a diabetic, I would LOVE that this drug has the added benefit of not only helping me lose weight, but also to control my diabetes. [and, btw, this drug is recommended for people who are co-morbid with diabetes].

I wish Seeking Alpha would be more FACTUAL and stop bashing this drug. I understand that part of this is because Wall Street bet on the wrong horse [i.e. Vivus and their Qnexa, which results in more weight loss but whose safety profile is not that good....causes cleft lip in a newborn, may have addiction possibilities and may have heart valve issues that remain to be resolved]. So Wall Street bet on the wrong horse. So what???

Again, not "pumping" Arena and Belviq. Just do your research and please stop trying to sound authoritative....which you are not.
