  • Record iPhone Shipments May Not Mean Market Share Gains [View article]
Mr. Blair: Articles like these which have a clear bias to support one's vested position have always helped me to make sound investment decisions. If this is all you can come up with while trying to make a case for shorting AAPL then it is worth going long.

  • Amazingly, Yahoo Will Still Do Badly [View article]
    Paolo, You wrote,"
    "Conclusion
The main prediction to be drawn from this article is that right after Alibaba starts trading, Yahoo shares will start underperforming. If Alibaba shares pop substantially, maybe the underperformance will just mean stagnation. Yet, what is most likely is an outcome where Yahoo shares drop significantly."

Your conclusion makes longs in Yahoo and SoftBank look like they are standing on thin ice. Well let it be it. I am going to be viewing it rather positively. Here is how I will deal with it.

As I've been loading up on Yahoo and SoftBank for more than one year and now sitting on decent profits on both positions. In the very unlikely scenario where Alibaba opens around IPO price of $68, both of these long positions can be trimmed or liquidated and the proceeds will give me the opportunity to buy BABA as much as I can. I will be willing to chase BABA to buy it up to $80 because the fundamentals look robust enough at that level. In a very likely scenario where BABA goes higher than 80 I will just enjoy the luxury to sit tight and watch my Yahoo and SoftBank go higher and might be happily amazed by their ascent.

Paul, any financial analysis considers all reasonable scenarios at least though any black swan events should not be ignored. Being a highly respected Contributor how can you ignore and brush aside a very valid and really possible outcome like BABA jumping up?

Great analysis to counter the herd mentality. It has forced me to rethink and analyze again my long position in FB.

Though I like your sense of humor but when it comes to the matters of investing hard earned money I take it seriously.

So don't let the imagination run amok, as Yahoo is neither in a bubble at present nor it is space worthy.
