KPMG didn't "completely exonerate" the company - there wasn't a "huge share buy back" and there hasn't been "heavy insider buying"

anyone looking to go long SVM should look into fraud allegations v v carefully...and maybe keep an eye on what happens to Sino-Forest equity holders after their independent committee "completely exonerated" the company

hi pocono - my point (not a profound one!) is that potential investors should consider the uncertainty surrounding SVM and not take for granted that all these allegations are behind it.

i've no doubt there is money to be made going long in the short term, but if you're buying to hold for a while, you should definately do a little research - maybe the risk is to the upside over the next few months - but over a slightly longer time horizon, i think the risks are as much down as up...

not asking for anyone to do my homework - merely interested if there is any evidence for bbay's claims...

SVM was very clear in its release that KPMG was not asked to look at ALL the allegations but only specific ones...so its simply untrue that the company has been "completely exhonerated" by KPMG. The Canadian regulator announced previously that they are investigating these allegations. they haven't announced the end of this investigation yet.

from memory - since the controversy began SVM have bought back $10m worth of shares - i think the total was $30m for 2011...is this a "huge share buyback" for a company with a $1bn+ market cap?

and what about "heavy inisder buying"? you can't just look at what insiders have bought since the controversy started but also what they have sold over the years - i haven't seen this info. any links to insider tranactions would be v welcome

    hey bbay

from the KPMG report release - "KPMG was not asked to perform a broader investigation of all aspects of the allegations or an earnings management investigation. They did not undertake a comprehensive review of revenue and its source. Nor did they undertake a funds tracing or analysis of sources and uses of cash, or work to assess related parties. "

i assume this is the reason the company is announcing a new 43-101 for Ying - as the allegations about grade / tonnage haven't been adequately addressed.

as far as insider buying / (selling) - do you have a link for insider trades over last few years?
