Short Amazon: Risky Investment at Current Price [View article]
AMZN's current stock surge reminds of RIMM which surged to ridiculous levels before diving over 50%. Rimm's growth was unsustainable and a new competitor emerged. Same thing is going to happen to AMZN since how long does it take to comparison shop on the web.
Why would I want to pay $15 for me $15 for my wife and $15 per child per month forever. Once they start each year then each year they will raise it slightly. This is a no go.
Reason I never bought Xm or Sirius is that it is a per car tax. You have 5 cars then you pay five bills.
On the music, they will then want all kinds of add on fees $15 for your phone, extra $2 per ipod, $5 per vehicle, $5 for each computer. Never will work.
Just look at dvds. If I buy it why can't I load it onto all of my devices that I own in my household. Thus I can put it in itunes and stream it to my tv, put it on an ipod to watch at the gym, watch it on a laptop on flight or use an ipod/iphone to hook it up to the car dvd player. Right now you would have to hack the dvd or buy it digitally.

Rimm may be galloping but the fact that Verizon is selling blackberries on a 2-1 sale is going to hurt margins or is a sign that they have way too many blackberries in inventory. Either way that is a bad sign for Rimm. I would be short this and Amazon with its crazy pe ratio.

Is Amazon's Kindle Outpacing Early iPod Sales? [View article]
I bought my ipod on October 23, 2001 after pre-ordering it from a small apple computer shop. No apple stores back them. It cost $400.00 which was a ton of cash in 2001. Needed firewire which few computers had. Mine didn't. No itunes and nobody made skins or wireless transmitters or extra headphones. Only worked with the mac which had such a small market share that many thought they would fold. Comparing the kindle to that is a joke.
Best thing about it is that it still works. Anyone think the Kindle will work in 2016. Doubt it.

I hope Dull makes a smartphone. Anyone that can assemble parts into a pc can do the same with a phone. Dell can then transition from a mediocre box maker into a mediocre phone maker. What can dull add to make the phone smart or any good.
Amazon Reports Q4 In Line, Q1 Outlook is Bullish [View article]
The quarter shows that AMZN needed extra sales to hit the earnings target which means margins are getting squeezed. PE is too high and needs to come down to about 30 times forward earnings to put it on par with the other growth stocks like AAPL, GOOG, and RImm
Google, Apple, Research in Motion and Amazon: Are "The Four Horsemen" Overvalued? [View article]
If Apple sells 13 miliions phones in 2008 (about what Rimm shipped in 2007) and then sells 40 million in 2009, where does this leave Rimm. Apple was in the computer business now they are music, video, computers, phone, mp3 players. Rimm is in phones. Google is a marketing company on the internet that wants into the phone biz. MSFt wants in the phone biz. Dell are they going into the phone biz? Seems like a crowded space. As Apple and Google are diversified they can ride the phone business and it will have some impact. Rimm is only in phones so if they guess wrong they will get killed. Motorola and Palm were big in phones and then got it wrong.
Lastly, If Rimm's expertise is a keyboard phone that does email better than everyone, isn't every phone going to do email soon. Is MSFT going to do push email. How about Google. How is Rimm's position defensible?
AMZN is a dog that gets sales by allowing people to avoid sales tax. Go to BBY or Circuit City and ask them to match AMZN and eat the sales tax. They can't do it. When the states/feds take this away, the consumer will go to.

Rimm is a one trick pony entering a fight for its life with AAPL in the handset business and against MSFT, GOOG, and YHOO on the email push front. With no competitive advantage other than email, RIMM sits in a tough spot. Everyone wants their space and they own a whopping 1% of the market. Market cap is over extended and unless they come up with something else the blackberry will become the pager of the 2000's.
They entered the consumer market to compete against aapl and if AT&T is the biggest sellier of the blackberry they will be buried for the next month. Hate to be on the conference call on the 28th, the night before iPhone launch.

Question is downloads or video streams. Itunes allows you to download, move to apple tv and then watch on your living room widescreeen tv. Most video streams are small, if blown up are grainy and you have to watch at the computer, Hope you have the apple 30 inch monitor. I do but things like mlb tv blown up are a little distorted. But if you want to watch at the computer and watch the ads good for you. If you want to watch them on your tv or at the gym on your ipod, itunes is the way to go.
