I'm a young private investor. I prefer concentrated bets on small, quality businesses. I'm a strategic generalist, tactical specialist; I scan broadly looking for quirky things to become obsessed with for awhile, to accumulate clusters of competence in neglected niches. I'll place on my watch-list most anything that is predictable enough to value accurately, and wait for the right price. My idea horizons, which used to be ~1 year, seem to be lengthening. To the extent I pay attention to macro I outsource my beliefs to Scott Sumner/Market Monetarists; good guys with track records worth noticing.
My current top holdings are FN, KTCC, AGM, NVMI, EMAN, SILC, SLP, and SWIR.
I am a high yield/distressed credit and deep value/reorg equity analyst. I have fundamental research and buy-side direct investing experience of 22 years in four continents, last 13 years of which were in US and 9 years in three emerging nations - India, Australia and Oman.
My last job was with Dalton Investments LLC in Los Angeles, where I spent 13 years as Managing Director analyzing special situations, high yield/distressed credits, bank loans and reorg equities. As a generalist, I looked at more than 400 companies and gained knowledge in insolvency proceedings. By participating in creditor committees, I also gained expertise in corporate reorganization and rescue financing. Currently I am looking for a suitable employment opportunity.
Prior to Dalton, I worked at Al Ahlia Securities in Muscat, Oman, for more than two years as Head of Research for a $100 mn equity fund. Middle East and North African equities were key investing targets.
Prior to Al Ahlia, I worked as Head of Research at ANZ Investment Bank for two years in Syndey, Australia and Mumbai, India. While setting up an Indian asset management company for Australian bank ANZ, I gained research experience in Australian mining, minerals, telecom and tourism sectors.
Prior to ANZ, I worked at Unit Trust of India, Indias largest mutual fund at that time, between March 1992 and December 1996. I personally visited more than 300 companies in various parts of India and analyzed/invested in their debt/equity.
I hold an MBA from Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California. I also hold an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad IIM-A. I hold a B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur IIT-KGP. I am Chartered Financial Analyst CFA and a member of CFA Institute/CFA society of Los Angeles.
Hi, I am Ong Kang Wei, a Singaporean investor intrigued by the stock market and anything related to business, finance and economics. I love observing the stock market in my free time, and I especially favor dividend-paying aristocrats offering products/services people need such as P&G, Kinder Morgan, Wal-Mart, among many others. I also love high quality stocks or mispriced stock opportunities that will be able to reward shareholders. Of course, I can only come to such a conclusion through extensive fundamental research and analysis. I am still in the process of learning how to analyse stocks more perfectly, and I must say that I have learnt a lot so far on Seeking Alpha. People whom I admire include Warren Buffett, Peter Lynch, Charlie Munger, Philip Fisher and Benjamin Graham. I try to learn about these famous people and find out what made them successful. I also regard established people in the financial industry very highly, and always try to learn from them through their writing. This group of people would include Professor Aswath Damodaran, many of the other knowledgeable CFAs and also Seeking Alpha writers. Though I try my best to keep writing on Seeking Alpha, I may stop writing at times due to study obligations.

My goal is to bring exposure to business development companies (BDCs) that finance small to medium sized businesses, typically overlooked by banks. BDCs are an instrument for investors to earn healthy dividends by avoiding double taxation at the corporate level and allowing income to flow directly to each shareholder. My name is Mike McNeil and I’m the author of The Dividend Guy Blog along with the owner and portfolio manager over at Dividend Stocks Rock. I earned my bachelor degree in finance-marketing, own a CFP title along with an MBA in financial services. Besides being a passionate investor, I’m also happily married with three beautiful children.
I started my online venture to educate people about investing and to be able to spend more time with my family.
I used to struggle with the same issues millions of small investors deal with on a daily basis. Which stocks to buy? When to sell them? How to find the time to manage my portfolio? How to diversify? I wasn’t into dividend investing until I looked in depth at my portfolio returns and realized I was having difficulty keeping up with the market.
The root of the problem was a very poorly built portfolio that lacked structure and the components required to build a sturdy base. I made good money from the stock market but I was taking unnecessary risk to achieve my investing goals.
From that point on, I was determined to create a portfolio strategy that would allow me to benefit from dividend growth stocks as a solid foundation. Since then, I manage my portfolio with a stress free method that enables me to cash out dividend payments even when the market goes sour.

I have been trading part time for the past 10 years, focusing on swing trades and identifying how different stocks will "inhale and exhale" through the market. My primary targets are in the $2-$10 range, averaging over 2 million shares traded daily, and looking for an upswing. My goal is to average 10% per month, but will hold on for the long run with stocks that I believe in.
I specialize in Biotech companies. After following the sector for many years, it's my belief that a logical analysis of publicly disclosed information on a Biotech company often includes sufficient data to draw the parallels necessary to invest intelligently.

I had the intense desire at a very young age to save and invest my earnings. My father did not believe in allowances. With the money saved from collecting aluminum cans I opened my first Kool-Aid stand at the age of five. I invested some of the profits in a box of saltine crackers which increased sales exponentially. I used those profits to buy a pare of breeding gerbils and began selling Gerbil babies wholesale to the local pet stories for a $1 each by the age of 7. The rest is history...
