  • More on NSA tracking: the agency reportedly monitors call data from AT&T (T) and Sprint (S), as well as from Verizon (VZ) (as reported yesterday). Together, the service providers have 314.6M wirelesss and landline accounts. The NSA's operations also encompass purchase information from unnamed credit-card providers.  [View news story]
    Concur with crash.
Evil? Maybe a necessary evil. Is tapping my conversation happening, doubt that. Will National Security Agency efforts save defenseless American lives, quite likely. What price do I place on the value of a life and what sacrifice am I willing to make. For me, the possibility of the NSA tapping my conservation is a price I am willing to pay.

  • Apache (APA), Devon (DVN) and Occidental Petroleum (OXY) all have strong track records and low-risk profiles, but lack the exploration potential, high-production growth, and takeover speculation premium of many of their E&P peers, Oppenheimer's Fadel Gheit writes. Investors have preferred stocks of energy companies emphasizing high-production growth over those with high return on capital in recent years.  [View news story]
Got to agree with rjj1960. Unfortunately, they have not been straight about their operations. Cramer blew as gasket because DVN spoke a good game, but its report about liquids/oil on hand or in the pipeline did not match actuals.

  • This 'Strong Buy'-Rated Energy Stock Yields 8%, And Insiders Are Buying  [View article]
I'm not a business major, so maybe I'm missing something in the analysis. How can this company pay out (Annual dividend: $3.20 per share which yields about 8%) than it is earning (Earnings estimates for fiscal year 2013: $2.46 per share)?
