  • Finding Investment Opportunities in Modern Agriculture [View article]
POT has been getting a lot of press recenlty as Goldman Sachs and UBS have recently published reports. The biggest near term driver for potash prices will be the Chinese contract negotiations. Farmers have been taking a "potash holiday," but the soil cannot be mined much longer.

Another author posted a good article a few months back about how the same thesis will affect farmland values.

  • How Obama's Budget Will Affect Commodities [View article]
I agree that over the long-term, the reduction in direct payments will will not derail the fundamentals of commodities, but I am very disappointed that Obama is not supportive of America's agirculture. Taxing capital and reducing opportunities for American workers is only going to dig us deeper into the abyss.

Here is another good article about Obama and agriculture:

  • Time to Buy and Hold for Reflation: Four Promising Sectors  [View article]
I agree with your inflation thesis. The goverment is going to have the printing presses running 24/7 to pay for the stimulus package. We are going to have to pay for our deficit at some point and the only way to accomplish this is to debase our currency.

    Gold here I come.

Below is a link to a blog highlighting agriculture/farmland as a good inflation hedge, which I believe might be another good idea.
