Not being able to buy the phone online is definitely a PIA. I doubt there's any primary interest in a halo effect, I think this partially ATT trying to get Apple traffic into their stores, with the other intention being an anti-unlocking maneuver. Hope ATT has hired a whole new retail staff... Because their store attendants are idiots at best.]]>

Why do people persist in asking a camera in their phone? Does your car make coffee, even though you drink a lot of coffee in your car? No. Confusing a phone with a camera kills the phone. I for one am glad that Apple keeps the camera function tame. It's a gadgety distraction from making a good phone. Not saying I wouldn't enjoy 5MP and a flash, but I'd rather have all of the other features are top-notch first.

GPS? I do think that would be a great addition. Though, that may be another diversion from making a great phone, especially if it affects the form factor, battery life, etc.]]>

Maybe the Blackberry is the new RAZR? Look at Google statistics for web traffic and you see the iPhone blowing out any other device. So maybe everyone is getting Blackberries because they can afford them, not because they really want a full-featured web browser. There is a market for both.

Besides, no one has proven that Apple's cutbacks aren't correct. What if 6 months from now Blackberry is sitting on millions of items in inventory and Apple is on target?]]>

MacBook Air: In a Word, Impressive http://seekingalpha.com/article/60383-macbook-air-in-a-word-impressive?source=feed#comment-110829 110829 - NO ONE WAS GROANING. I didn't hear one complaint about the keynote except for the fact that most of us couldn't get in because of a raft of VIPs. Again, I didn't hear one complaint.
- I used the Air and it's every bit as zippy as MacBook Pro on normal tasks. And yes, I was using the low-end version.
- Ethernet is supplied by a USB adapter, I would agree that wireless is unpredictable, but I wouldn't agree that it's unreliable. Once you find a connect, you're typically fine.
- You buy the battery, Apple covers the labor for replacement. So it's the same cost as buying a battery otherwise, you just have Apple do the work.
- Are you implying that Apple's behind on solid state drives? Apple's had a working modern OS for almost ten years. Does Dell?

This is not a laptop for everyone, but it will be fantastic for the people that want it. It's fast, light, great battery life, and it's a Mac. These will be selling like hot cakes come December.]]>

Price? I just don't see it. It's clearly holds value. We already know that it's worth 1.5x its current price. I doubt anyone is commodity shopping if they are really interested in bringing an iPhone into the Enterprise. Sure, the price will keep it out of a certain amount of shops, but Apple might not ever win those shops, nor should it.

3G: Myth. It's not the cure all that everyone wants. I have a 3G phone and unless you're in the middle of a large city it ain't there.

AT&T: You got me there. It's getting better, but it's still a lackluster network.

Larry: Good to see you coming around on AAPL. ; )]]>

Apple has never been the number one player, and probably won't be. You see, 6% market share is their strength. Whereas with Microsoft, the top player in the PC OS market should be able to do better than 6% in a sub-market like MP3 players.

In 2010, there will be a Zune after market in paperweights.]]>

Once again, doubting Apple here won't work out for you. iPhones will continue to grow in the consumer market, Macs will continue to outpace PCs in sales growth, and Apple will continue to provide innovative tools for the consumer to experience the benefits of technology in their everyday lives. Who in the gPhoneosphere has the ability, history, cash, or brand leverage to promise the same?

I have all the respect in the world for Google and their aims with this phone platform, but this announcement means total market confusion for the next two years.]]>

I'm not so naive, mind you, this is an effort to control Apple PR too. The iPhone after market is already creating negative buzz on sites like this where hack pundits are blowing the "iBrick" issue way out of proportion. Just like this two-phone-credit-card issue. We've already wasted everyone's time talking about it.]]>

Five Reasons Why Apple's iPhone Is More Disruptive Than You Think http://seekingalpha.com/article/49920-five-reasons-why-apple-s-iphone-is-more-disruptive-than-you-think?source=feed#comment-98818 98818 #2 Video content owners are having the troubles. Apple is just trying to line their pockets with money but they don't like the terms. Meanwhile, people are more interested in YouTube than the movie theatre because it's easier to get to.
#3 I agree. The US mobile market is suffocating itself under its own arse.
#4 The iPhone is infinitely expandable. How? It has a full browser that can get nearly anywhere a desktop browser can. As well, the iPhone may be opening up to more development. Please understand Apple. They keep control over the platform so the user doesn't get cheated or confused. See PCs for what I'm talking about. Apple hardware always works as promised, PC hardware rarely does.
#5 It might be a whole new phone and you might see it January. Apple is constantly one-upping itself and leaving the industry light-years behind.]]>

However, 3G coverage is sparse outside of urban areas and not always dependable. The truth is that mobile broadband just isn't there in a lot of markets. I have a 3G AT&T phone and a Sprint Sierra Wireless USB modem. I get incredibly mixed results from both with the Sprint system being a bit faster and more reliable [In Cinci of all places I got the best reception I've ever had on the Sprint].

I'd rather see Wi-Fi in more locations. You're really using the internet in static locations like cafes, bars, work, etc.

However, having used Blackberries and iPhones, from a distance as I've owned neither, I can tell you that I'll take a slow iPhone over a fast Blackberry any day. If I was solely dependent on email, a Blackberry with 3G is the best choice. But if I'm not chasing email all day, the iPhone is ten times easier to use, more friendly, faster to navigate and more invigorating/useful/in...]]>

Over-Hyped Apple Has No Real Value http://seekingalpha.com/article/49797-over-hyped-apple-has-no-real-value?source=feed#comment-98729 98729
The point to be made against his and other nay-sayers is the crescendo that Apple is building. Apple has been steadily growing and improving over the past 30 years. They've seen good times and bad, and used all of them to learn and adapt. I simply cannot think of another corporation in the technology sector as successful at doing this.

We've seen nothing but ground-breaking products from them for the past 10 years since Mr. Jobs returned. That trend isn't changing as all signs point to further growth. If the iPod fails, they have phones, an unbeatable OS, iTunes, and laptops. If the phone fails, they laptops, ipods, unbeatable OS, iTunes, and laptops. Etc. As well, each of their products is at the top of its market sector [save for its enterprise unit, which can be argued]. Can anyone point to a company that has this much security or potential growth at the moment?

What Apple has that bothers the street so much is arrogance on par with the street itself. A clash of god-complexes.]]>
