MTV, RealNetworks to Form JV to Challenge Apple iTunes

You know what? This doesn't sound like any kind of competition. This sounds more like a lifestyle/audience adaptation of the digitla music marketplace. Apple owns the digital marketplace, but they are not, should not, and cannot, be the only player. All growth of digital music is good for Apple.

Now getting rid of DRM so that music can be more portable from web store to web store, player to player, consumer to consumer, is an utter priority. The distributors are killing themselves in this respect.
