    >DRich, Retired Aviator, iindelco, et al...

I think it important that we all remember there are at least two versions of the 'UB' (UltraBattery) which seem significantly different. One appears to be a 50/50 split anode, comprised of half the anode being Pb and the second half being some kind of carbon. The more recent version, IIRC, being a ~5% exposed Pb and ~95% carbon coated singular anode plate. This later version, IIRC, is attributable to the Furukawa model of the 'UB' and we are not clear whether East Penn is also manufacturing this radically different/'upgraded' model of the 'UB'.

IIRC, all of Dr. Buiell's comments were attributable to the original split anode design from CSIRO. I'm not aware of any scientific comments or comparisons between the PbC and the later iteration of the 'UB'. Further, that the Honda implementation of the 'UB' in their Odyssey lineup is apparently a flooded version rather than VRLA/AGM is an additional conundrum.

Remember, we AXIONista's, recognize (speculate) there is a big difference in the PbC's characteristics/qualities between the hand rolled carbon and that spit from the automated process. Therefore, it is very reasonable to presume the 5/95 version of the 'UB' also has significantly different characteristics/qualities than those previously discussed/understood by Dr. Buiell or Kirk Tierney.

    >Al Marshall, When I broke the news to the APC of Maxim's calls, re. the 'offering' to this shareholder there were few others validating my experience for a number of days. Some, here, even questioned the veracity of my reported experience because I was the only reporter of such contact (and I never actually spoke to them myself). Some here initiated contact themselves after I posted phone numbers and name of contact. Eventually some began receiving their own calls and reported here. The time between the first call I received and the first reports from others having been called took several days and others weeks. There are likely no smaller holders here on AXPW than I (cuz I was smart enough not to overindulge and I am poor), the first calls were to me only - which means they were based on an IRA acct, eventually the calls were to my wife and I - which would be based on a joint cash account. We use only Scottrade, and all Maxim calls were identified as such on my caller ID, many left voice mails indicating intended recipient and basic info regarding the AXPW offering that was going to be an "opportunity" for me. (Some here suggested 'cold calls' would be beyond the pale and would not include messages/voicemails - suggesting my naivete while actually illustrating the 'DENIAL' that has kept this company and blog alive). Many here have reported extensive (long) phone interactions which certainly have minimized some opportunities for the couple jr members, Nick & Lenny, relegated to making these contacts.

Alsobirdman, as a self reported mega holder also expressed dismay (disbelief) that such solicitations were occurring and I don't recall any further reports whether he ever did get a call. As I suggested, in response to his questioning of my 'breaking news', maybe Maxim was starting with small holders in order to perfect their shtick before proceeding to the larger holders.

Additionally, knowledge of your balanced and thoughtful processing of information and postings on the APC's may have put you on a separate list of holders to avoid.

edit: (earlier reply to Bob Averill) It was DRich that capably noted this motorcycle battery was a form factor not pursued by AXION, rather than iindelco.

It's hard for this feeble mind of mine to keep our wiser posters distinct, I apologize for the incorrect attribution.

However, I stand by my other positions.

    >Bob Averill, I think you may be mistaken in your interpretation of the described battery in that; 1) even the latest graphics of the ULTRABATTERY iteration depicts a corner of virgin Pb, (yes I understand that the substrate in this iteration is Pb-but more than any published graphic ULTRABATTERY description) 2) There is no cited/acknowledged affiliation describing this as an ULTRABATTERY in this article, 3) There is no known licensing arrangement from CISRO to an Asian manufacturer, 4) iindelco acknowledged this motorcycle battery is not a PbC form factor offered by AXION at this time, 5) I believe the point iindelco was presenting was a Chinese partnership/licensing was not a good idea, as the safe guards about IP in this region are non-existent at best, 6) If we are to see the ULTRABATTERY's evolution towards a greater copy of the PbC design as beneficial to AXION's PbC ---what should we make of this Chinese 'ULTRABATTERY' knock-off and what would prevent this (these) manufacturers from progressing to the larger automotive form factor with AXION's and CISRO's research?

    >Rick Krementz, Welcome back to the 'Unicorn Board'! From your post:

"...Then he reiterated the importance of good execution of management, noting that "management thinks they can keep selling more to their existing customers, they have a strong customer list". ..."

Do you think maxim was referring to sales of batteries or AXIONS demonstrated expertise at selling their stock regardless of other execution/information deficiencies?

    >John Petersen, "Rugged> I spoke with Maxim today and they told me the road show kick-off with DDG and crew was yesterday morning while TG was with me in Novi. ..."

I assume TG is referring to Tom Granville, if so I am glad to hear he was able to bear witness and perhaps do some 'Glad Handing' himself. Health battles can be very challenging physically, emotionally, and financially. While there are some here that feel entitled to greater vehemence due to the volume of stock they own, I would bet there are few if any as INVESTED in Axion as Mr. Granville. I hope his battle is progressing well and his investment will offset/alleviate all the financial stress of his current ordeal, sooner rather than later.

    >DRich, I agree with your position and similarly believe that this "cone of silence" Strategy did not occur in a vacuum. I also share your frustrations with how AXION has 'progressed/regressed' on so many fronts. I understand the premise of your concerns regarding the combined role of CEO & BOD membership but I am not sufficiently fluent in the question to have a clear/certain position.

To my knowledge this dual role has not changed and the evidence thus far is that the "cone of silence" remains intact. Further, I will officially state for the record that I believe AXION's 'Quite Period' has been overstated and become the latest excuse for a culture of "hide the ball" (thanks Stefan Moroney). To what end will likely remain a mystery that started in silence and may or may not end!

    >DRich, et al, My reading of this thread has the question of the accuracy/veracity of Bob Averill's perspective of the BOD's role vs. the CEO (managements) role. The construct of the Board and the Charter of the corporation seems a separate consideration. And I am not certain that a single BOD member, Bob Averill, can be held accountable for same.

Have any of the poster's here on the APC's any recollection of any direct attempts to inform the BOD members of the lack of technical/sales info. Unfortunately Rick Kremitz is away from the APC's for the moment, as I believe he would be the most likely to know the answer to my question.

If no one knows of such direct communication with Bob Averill then I don't accept the premise that it is reasonable to continue this conjecture of a Bob Averill conspiracy to dupe us AXIONISTA's and/or capture AXION's IP.

I was an early critic of AXION's cone of silence strategy, long before it became a popular carping point. Most AXIONISTA's either ignored my threads, or chose to adopt John Petersen's position that these strategies were legitimate and/or necessary. (John Petersen's arguments were cogent and reasonable but more strident than his recent perspective of relating much of this to AXION's poor PR performance. IMHO)

Regardless, Bob Averill has stated his ignorance regarding the degree of technical isolation that AXION has perpetuated and IS as desirous, as any here, for clearer, complete, targeted specifications and/or white papers. Given this fact, I am given to questioning the motives and agendas of those who wish to continue this antagonistic debate of Bob Averill's integrity/honesty in the guise of due diligence or superior astuteness on the part of a few trying to save us (the ignorant) from ourselves!

    >John Petersen, Since you raised NSC as a possible benefactor of "regenerative terrain" with their potential OTR construct. And having posed this question a few concentrators ago regarding the very different yard slug 'Huge' dynamic braking charge. I am wondering if your experiences at ePower have caused some caution, regarding the PbC's durability in the different charge/discharge cycles to be found in the NSC yard slug design?

I know this thread is part of your battery show presentation, but you hadn't responded to my earlier inquiry so I am trying here as you related your response to D Lane's question to NSC's use of the PbC. Thanks

    >Stefan Moroney,

"As the resident curmudgeon, lets get the first one in the hands of a fleet operator and log some miles."

Pragmatist at best (or worst), Thank you very much!

    >iindelco, Durability is the key metric that can't be easily modeled and the one area of stats we've gotten teaser numbers, then the caveat that due to manufacturing changes those old stats may no longer apply. Most here (APC's) presume that durability and cycle counts have improved with each generation, but I don't know why!

So count me in on the 'get one into several operators hands and let us just see!'
