I never thought I'd call 3% down a great day!

Just wish I had bought some sub-100 AAPL

  • How I Defossilized My Portfolio - Part 2 [View article]
Well, I guess its good if you're happy investing in your moral beliefs, but prepare to under-perform the market by a lot.

Me, I focus on making money in the market by investing in all sectors, then I use the extra money I make to donate to a charity of my choice. As a part owner of CVX, you could force CVX to use (a small) part of its profits to invest in alternative energy by reinvesting your CVX dividends in these companies.

This is one of the worst comments I've ever seen on SA.

Could this be a contrarian indicator? It's worth 3-5% of my portfolio to find out.

  • Procter & Gamble: Real Problems, Decent Value [View article]
This article is extremely superficial and has little real analysis that could help investors.

  • When Should You Diversify? [View article]
You sound like you're just starting your investing journey. I think holding only 4-5 stocks leaves your portfolio open to decimation by a black swan (remember GTAT anyone), but hopefully it works out for you.

This is less an investment article than an ad for Betterment services.

  • Stress Test For Dividend Growth Investors [View article]
The Nikkei 225 had something like a 100 P/E ratio at its height. It truly was madness by any applicable measure. A 20 P/E on the SP500 at the moment is pretty fully valued, but its not like we're in a bubble of any sort unless the earnings part takes a nose dive.

I'd love to what kind of SA articles showed up if the SP500 actually did get a 100 P/E by shooting up to 10,000 in the next couple years without any corresponding change in earnings. Would the doom and gloomers keep the faith?

This article basically has no real content. All it does is promote churn for financial advisors from constant portfolio turnover.

  • John Hussman: 2.3 Sigmas Above The Norm [View article]
Another doom and gloom article by John Hussman that is wrong yet again. Maybe he will be right in 2-3 years, but I wouldn't bet on it.

  • There Are 3 Words In Dividend Growth [View article]
Dividend growth stocks make up the core of my portfolio and help me sleep at night. Few things in life are as rewarding as getting a raise year after year from my stocks. I get better raises than when I was working!

  • The U.S. Dollar Index Is A Scary Looking Bubble Right Now [View article]
For stuff like this, yes. And that vertical bulge between 350 and 400 on the x-axis shows me that something else important is going on that your model isn't capturing.

  • The U.S. Dollar Index Is A Scary Looking Bubble Right Now [View article]
Hmm, you're models should probably include interest rates. The R-squared for your model is pretty low too, adding a third dimension of real interest rates should help.

  • Market Melt-Ups All Around: 1999 Redux? [View article]
These increases are not irrational, they are the result of earnings surprises based on previous expectations that were exceeded. I'm not sure how this article would be useful to anyone.
