You do have your point. But don't you think allotting 70%+ on volatility index is too much? What if the market does not fall in the next several years? I do understand that, comparing with skyrocket VIX in 2008 and a year ago when US was being downgraded, Changing 10% or even 50% of CVOL current price ($4-wish) is nothing. I agree with your view on VIX. Eventually, it is going to climb up and it might be too late or costly to load up VIX ETF, and returns would be much smaller when a market failure is identified. My point is, I would not allocate more than 10% of my portfolio/investment into volatility index. There are a lot of investment opportunities out there.

I think there is a mismatch of time within the numbers. Short selling and those who sell their long positions in Apple, are thinking Apple is not going to grow as fast as before. dropping from $700 to $600, I see oversold action here. The earnings are going to release no matter what. And it reflects previous quarter, NOT now, NOT the future. The earning report is definitely going to beat the estimate as usual. And this will bring another rally. Then the stock would linger or even fall (according to growth model).
