I find this worrysome...but will take a small position in the company. It's the ole risk versus reward issue. Regardless of the outcome, it is unlikely to unhing the company. certainly a distraction for managment. I'm also long DDD on a somewhat larger scale.

  • Forget About American Capital, Annaly Capital Is Still The Best Of Breed [View article]
Hmm! Lot’s to think about in this discussion. But it does'nt change my strategy…manage risk within mREIT sector with diversification; watch the segment daily and keep track of what Big Ben is saying about interest rates. In the short/mid term, I don’t see interest rates changing significantly and perhaps a slowdown in easing by the Fed. Thus, it seems to me keeping a sizeable bet on mREITs is prudent. Both stocks and more mREITs are in my basket. Having said that, I don’t want to see my base capital decline significantly as the time will come to move on to another sector…shipping has to rebound someday! So, what would make a great article for someone to undertake…is what would make a good basket of mREITs; risks/rewards metrics/factors and mREIT exit strategy.

I'm in Hawaii. I got up at 2:45 AM to read the earnings report. I thought it sounded pretty good and in light of the retrenment over the last month, I went back to sleep. Needless to say, it was a BIG OUCH when I woke up and saw what happened!

  • 9 Growth REITs Likely To Outperform [View article]
Brad, Given ACC's FFO impressive growth, why has it's quarterly dividend not gone up since 1st Qtr 2005? 33.75 cents a share back then was a quarterly yield of 1.58% versus .74% today. So while based on FFO growth this is a very impressive performance, its dividend yield is not growing and rather anemic given other REITs performance. I'd say the stock is considerably overpriced at the current yield. I guess the FFO growth is going into purchasing assets that should improve dividend yields in the future but if I had been holding this stock since 2005 with no increase in dividends, I think I would be quite unhappy. What you think? Steve
