Your Bond Allocation For 2013: It's Time To Lower Your Risk
Thank you as always for sharing your research.
My question is how do preferreds fit into a fixed income portfolio and how would they be affected by rising interest rates. I have been buying preferred IPO's this last year, sticking to the blue chip companies, in place of buying bonds.
We are 70 and 67, wanting a very conservative portfolio. Currently 15% in individual short term bonds, 25% preferreds, 15% cash remainder in dividend paying stocks. Worried about rising interest rate affect on preferreds.
Thank you for any advise.
