Why isn't Isis a target of a big pharma takeover? I've owned Isis for years and can't figure this out. Antisense technology and the products that are being developed for cancer, diabetes, and lipids are very promising. What's missing from the picture?

I've enjoyed reading all the posts. Both sides have passion, but I have to side with pharma, warts and all. Pharma needs to cut wasteful marketing, and they have already slashed sales forces. If you want to take away the profit motive, don't be upset with the lack of new medicines. Socialists fail to recognize that simple truth.

I guess you don't have a family member or friend with diabetes, elevated cholesterol and high BP. Losing or almost losing a loved one due to heart attack or stroke will change your view on the value of Merck's meds. "Lifestyle" drugs...are you kidding me?
