  • The FTC issued recommendations on Friday to beef up privacy on mobile devices, including that developers should incorporate do-not-track capabilities in apps and other software. While the proposals aren't binding, they carry the weight of policy for the likes of Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOG) and Microsoft (MSFT). Underscoring the FTC's commitment to privacy, it has fined social-networking app Path $800K for collecting personal information on children. [View news story]

  • Samsung (SSNLF.PK) has won the latest round in its global IP battle with Apple (AAPL) after Judge Lucy Koh ruled that the Korean company didn't willfully breach some  Apple patents and therefore left last summer's $1.05B jury verdict intact. Koh could have tripled the amount Samsung would have had to pay if she had found Samsung's actions to be willful, as the jury actually did. Koh also denied Apple and Samsung requests for a new trial. [View news story]

Oh dear, maybe Apple should just close down tomorrow and you can let some Korean company that makes fridges take the tech mantle........why don't you get behind your home grown companies and be positive about them, after all that is what will ultimately help your GDP and stop China from owning most of America and the West in the next 10 years.......!

  • Why Apple Is Still A Buy Even Though Amazon And Google Have Better Products [View article]
I agree with you that there is a lot more viable product competition out ther for Apple and they need to hit the different price levels with products or will get beat on price and choice, do you not think that Google and Amazon are overpriced and due a drop soon too.....!

  • A 5th-gen regular iPad (AAPL) will launch in October and feature "virtually no left or right bezels, and only enough space above and below the screen" to allow for a camera and home button, says iLounge, which has passed on accurate iRumors in the past. The info is generally in-line with a recent report from KGI Securities. iLounge also claims Apple is planning to launch an iPhone 5S sporting an improved camera this summer, and is developing a cheaper, plastic-bodied iPhone "with China Mobile in mind." An iPhone with a 4.7" display is said to be in "early prototyping stages." [View news story]
Having just been out to help my wife get a replacement phone, it was no contest on price and capability.....Samsung SIII mini for £15.50pm......it would have been 3 times that for the latest IPhone......THAT is why Apple are getting creamed at the moment.....they have to come up with a 'less costly" phone option (they don't do cheap) and work better with the providers or they will lose that market no matter how may Apps they have......that goes for tablets too.

You need to get this right, Apple have already set aside tax payments for profits made overseas and have accounted for these payments in each quarter. When they repatriate the cash, the tax payments have already been allocated out of it.
Why is it that everyone is looking for non-existent cracks.........!!!!

Thank you, about time there was some rational analysis to counter the months of over criticism on a growing company. It's no wonder the economy is in such a dire straight when companies who do well, $54B revenue with excellent profits can still be slated by people who's contribution to innovation is to change the font on their emails.....!
