Sirius XM And Dish Network Could Profit Royally From Their Golden Birds [View article]
You are correct sourdo. The first question to be asked is, are SIRI's satellites capable of handling 4G communication? If not, the idea proposed by this article goes down the tubes.
There is a possibility the answer is yes since there are enough satellites for two companies -- SIRI and XM -- and now there is only one company. However, SIRIXM have found it difficult to merge over into one system because of the incompatibility of XM to SIrius signals. Radios in cars more than two years old can only handle one -- XM or SIRIus signals. Hence, the savings that will be incurred by having only one signal will take years to be phased out, if ever. It will require a customer to change to a new radio and SIRIXM is, right now, not about to offer subsidies. But I digress.
So the next question is, can the existing satellites handle 4g signals by making software changes since the satellite cannot be physically accessed? If not, does it make economic sense to send up new satellites to handle 3G and 4G signals (and future signals) and using the same spectrum licensed to SIRIXM? Moreover, will SIRIXM be willing to share the spectrum or perhaps even offer the services themselves to providers like AT&T and even to Apple? Apple definitely can afford to offer to pay cash for the new satellites themselves. They can offer to buy SIRIXM but Liberty will not allow that. Or Apple can offer to buy Liberty Media but the FCC will probably not approve any buyout or merger.
Anyway you look at it, the possibility is there for SIRIXM to benefit from an expansion in the use of their existing licensed spectrum. I just hope Liberty does not buy the rest of SIRI they do not yet own. Of course, we shareholders and hold up until the right offer is made. I am very long on SIRI.

Add the fact that Imax keep adding hundreds of new theaters all over the world every year and we have they have the right recipe for a steady increase in earnings every year.
This article is basically stupid. With as many as 7 speakers in new cars -- great sounds no phones can even dream of approaching; keep in mind having an earphone on each ear while driving is illegal. The pleasure one gets listening from car radios without multitudes of advertisements is very much the reason 21 million people subscribe to Sirius XM radio. The high cost of streaming music on phones deters people from using phones for music listening.

In addition, the available bandwidth is limited. It is extremely expensive to get bandwidth from other companies, if you can find one willing to sell.
Cameron, other than new autos and used autos, the expansion you have not considered are fixed installations like in restaurants, bars, offices and homes where people are tired of having to constantly buy and change CDs to hear a variety of performers. There are also many people who want to listen to ball games and individuals like Howard Stern, Opra, Stock Market hosts, etc. They can only get this on SXM.... background radio while they do other things? You are talking tens of millions of additional subscribers!
Do you have any opinion on ACTC which recently reported that their phase 1 trial for Dry Adult Macular Degeneration patient and Stargardt's disease patient had responded well to the safety test and that in the case of Dry AMD the disease progression may have been arrested while that of the SAMD patient had her vision improved?
Until the long tests proves that the fuel design and materials is comparable or superior to current designs and the NRC licenses it, this stock is going nowhere. That won't happen until 2014-15 at the earliest.

John, you need to account for night time grid power coming from nuclear plants. In the US it is 20% of daily consumption. At night percentage will be higher since at night, the peaking gas and oil power generators are slowed down or shut off. Nuclear plants are base load plants that runs 24/7. In France where 78% the daily power comes from nuclear, the power to recharge EV's at night are more than 80% clean.
I noticed in yesterdays PBS' Nightly Business Report that after weeks of being on the daily list of the most active stocks, SIRI was not on it. Any significance - can anyone tell me? I do not know. Will have to see what happens today.

Come the first week in February when SIRI reports on year end results which will include the 4th qtr auto buying surge and used car subscription leap, then the price would be over $2. Should Malone want to buy the company, the price will be in the $2-3 range.
I am hoping he does nothing so SIRI can go over the $3 price range because of a great increase in subscribers -- like in the 25-26 million range in 2012.

Oooops! There is a very big problem with this presentation. It is a very serious one. Where is your forward looking statement warning to your readers? As far as I can see, this is a corporate statement and legally, you are bound to give your forward looking warning to your readers/investors. You are the CEO!!!
Coming from an insider, you failed to mention the status of your company's clinical trials with the FDA. Have your company applied? If yes, when and what is the current status of your application/trials? What are the results so far. You need to fully disclose.
Barring any response from you, this is a very much HYPE article on your company.... and could be illegal. If it is, best you withdraw your article now.

Did they do the other eye as requested? Probably not since the other eye is needed as the "control" eye. In time, should the treatment show signs of being a partial cure (dosage was a low 50K cells only) then FDA can grant a compassionate approval for the other eye to be treated.

The only update, if you can call it that, is as reported by the author is the use of "very excited" during the last conference call. I am anticipating they will give another "update" only in February during the 4Qtr conference call but not the results which are due around May 2012 - 6 months after the second round of patient trials. Of course, if the "very excited" turns out to be a definitive arrest of AMD progression, then we may anticipate FDA issuing a "compassionate" approval and speed up the trial and final approval process. Should this happen, the stock will be a ten bagger or better. And if the trial result in a "cure". . . who knows?
I do not know how much clinical trial progress information ACTC is providing to the prospective Chinese partners but a contract agreement may indicate the trial is getting good results. So we will have to wait for a contract announcement or the results of the trial, whichever is first announced to the public.

I agree with you John. When George Bush II and congress tried to push hydrogen fuel cells when it was obvious it would require a huge unaffordable and expensive infrastructure to support it, I thought he was severely science/economics impaired. Then comes Obama, another severely science/economics impaired President pushing solar and wind when there are huge limitations to his wanting them to replace hydrocarbon fuels. I can only wish we will have a President more attune to good science and not wishful thinking.
