SRO, SRQ Update: Becoming More Curious [View article]
Thanks for the analysis. I am a shareholder (SRQ) and very angry with the way DWS has managed the fund and its liquidation proxy. My shares are in a Roth so I would get no tax loss benefit. Therefore, by voting no, there may be a slim chance in recouping some of the loss with Horejsi versus no chance if liquidation occurs. I realize that the fund could continue to lose under Horejsi but I'm willing to take that chance.
Question: I don't understand the rights offering. It sounds like I can buy additional shares for $0.01. Is that a good idea? How will it affect Horejsi?
Joe. I appreciate your articles on CEF's. I see that you own SRQ as I (unfortunately) do as well. DWS has called a special meeting to vote to liquidate both srq and sro. I have learned that Stewart Horejsi appears to be buying shares in a take-over attempt. This is the absolute worst time to liquidate for most shareholders. So do you think DWS is doing this in an attempt to thwart Horejsi at the expense of the shareholders. I can see no reason to vote for liquidation. Is there any downside if the shareholders succeed in voting NO and do you think Horejsi could turn this fund around? Thanks Bob
