my first love is business. i've built some companies and am retiring (quite modestly, and probably temporarily) at 50. my second love is Apple. i admire and research it, and somewhat fear it. my retirement depends on its stock price. i'll leave it in a second though if i see a significant crack in its workings. my observations are: 1. Apple cares about quality of product and of transparency of user experience. 2. Apple cares about margin. 3. Apple leads and doesn't 'compete'. 4. Apple's behaviour may be interpreted as arrogant. it's at somewhat the same crossroads as it was with Microsoft and the hardware manufacturers a bunch of years ago. if it wins the popular vote the payoffs are ridiculously huge, but that is far from assured. for now, i believe Apple is taking the right route to world domination. thus a great joy, and my fear.
