Still a Lot of Potential in Dendreon and the Cancer Immunotherapy Market [View article]
Must correct the inaccuracies of Fourstarz comments . . . first off, patients on Provenge do not have "barely tolerable existance" or "little quality". That is part of the beauty of Provenge. Side effects for the three infusions required are chills and/or slight fever for one to two days following each infusion. That is it. No hair loss, nausea, vomiting, etc as one would get with chemo. Patients are enjoying improved quality of life with Provenge. Additionally, the average increase in life was 4.1 months, not 3 months as stated by Fourstarz. Many of the men in the clinical trial were alive 3 years after receiving Provenge. It is obvious that Fourstarz has not spent any time actually researching Dendreon and their cancer vaccine for prostate cancer, Provenge before writing a comment.
Transcept Pharma (TSPT) Offers an Interesting Biotech Value Play [View instapost]
Nice analysis Advalorem! Transcept's Intermezzo is a winner, millions of American's need a middle of the night sleep aid. With Transcept's low number of outstanding shares, huge cash cushion, and big milestone and royalty payments from Purdue, I foresee a nice jump in share price with FDA approval.
3 Reasons Not to Predict FDA Action: Matrixx, Savient, Dendreon [View article]
Ruthanne, please understand why Dendreonites are so touchy . . . too many lies have been told about Provenge and Dendreon by other authors and so called analysts. It seems anyone can claim to be a journalist but few bother to check out the facts. I agree that the FDA is unpredictable but they wouldn't dare not approve Provenge this time, too many men have died prematurely already in the name of greed.
FDA Calendar Updates: Transcept Pharma Surges on Deal [View article]
I have liked Transcept for some time now, their product, Intermezzo, is very clever. It allows one to fall back to sleep in the middle of the night, yet wake up on time in the morning refreshed. I know there are times I would like that product on my nightstand. TSPT had plenty of cash on the balance sheet and now with this deal, they are loaded.
"there were six participants that died as a result of heart problems associated with the drug (as opposed to 3 on the placebo)"
You do understand that there were 4 patients receiving Krystexxa for every 1 patient on placebo? Statistically that would make the placebo more dangerous than Krystexxa.
Arena Pharma Could Be on the Verge of Collapse [View article]
Pathetic bash job on Arena. Are there any REAL journalists out there anymore or just hacks like this guy? At least do some research before you post this junk!
Will Insmed's IPLEX Meet Expectations? [View article]
Great article. INSM is totally undervalued as you state, especially considering that that have a huge cash balance due to the Merck payment of $130 million. All shareholders are anxiously awaiting the reveal of the Phase II trial results of IPLEX for MMD patients. And it certainly didn't hurt having the New York Times front page coverage of IPLEX for ALS patients. Best regards to the patients waiting for the FDA to approve IPLEX, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
FDA approval will come in the first quarter of 2010. Provenge is a first in class prostate cancer vaccine with little to no side effects. Compare that to toxic Taxotere which is the chemo treatment currently available to prostate cancer patients. Scibby you need to learn more about Provenge before trashing Dendreon. This product is just the beginning for Dendreon. Following in the pipeline are vaccines for breast, colon, and kidney cancers. $7 value on DNDN is a joke.
Why Did Dendreon Execs Cash Out on Friday? [View article]
Thank you for the sensible article and being the voice of reason. Too many DNDN shareholders see conspiracy theories where none exist, maybe due to Dendreon's prior stock history (especially 2007). But this is a new day and a fantastic time to be a DNDN shareholder. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us and the patients that will be well served by DNDN's pipeline of products.
Dendreon's Provenge Is Scientifically Intriguing but Commercially Nonsensical
[View article]
I don't even know where to begin with all the half truths and out right lies in this article. It actually hurt my head to read this trash. What exactly is your agenda? Taxotere is the only current treatment available. It has terrible side effects and it's studies show a 2.8 month increase in lifespan for prostate cancer patients. It is paid for by insurance companies. Now please explain why insurance would not pay for Provenge by Dendreon when it's studies show a 4.1 month increase in lifespan with far, far fewer side effects? I agree with the above poster, the earth is round. Please get on board with the science.
