A few months ago, I bought Apple at $509. Today, I think the stock is far more attractive, in every category.
I have been buying every day. I will continue until my bank offers more than 3% on savings.
I realize that my bank savings are more "secure", but the recent developments at Apple have given me sufficient assurance.
Apple's (AAPL +1.6%) bondholders have lost some $280.6M on paper (somewhat cleverly dubbed an "iLoss" by WSJ) since the debt was issued last month as speculation of QE tapering has sent 10-year Treasury yields climbing. Losses on the 10-year "iBond" sat at ~$137M through Tuesday as prices sunk to 97.377 cents on the dollar. The spread to Treasurys has also widened since issuance, Bloomberg says. [View news story]
If interest rates go back to 5% or 7%, Apple could make an offer to buy these bonds back, and make a few billion dollars more.

Apple (AAPL +1.9%) roundup: 1) Brian White cites Chinese 3G growth as a reason for his $888 PT: he points out China's 3G sub base rose 83% Y/Y in April to 293.1M, and is expected to hit 375M-400M by year's end. China Mobile (CHL - previous) had 120M 3G subs; China Unicom (CHU) had 92M, and China Telecom (CHA) 81M. 2) Taiwan's Economic Times reports Apple is testing 1.5" OLED displays for an iWatch, and that "market rumors" indicate Foxconn has received iWatch trial production orders. 3) Digitimes reports MacBook orders are expected to grow 20% Q/Q in Q2, as Apple launches new systems sporting Intel Haswell CPUs at June's WWDC conference. Tax reform, leading to repatriation of overseas money, is a win win for the US. 1. It will encourage US companies to do business overseas. 2. It will encourage spending in the US. 3. It will create manufacturing jobs in the US. 4. It will encourage US shareholder investment by avoiding keeping funds in less reliable foreign investments and governments.
Apple: Complete Reset Of Expectations Could Mark The Bottom [View article]
Obviously. I don't wish or expect that (Apple is forcing stock down).
I believe those dealing in shorts are doing it for short term advantage.
I was saying that it is possible takeover artists could use the large bulk of cash to leverage a takeover. With less cash and new debt, this becomes less possible.
I now expect, in the next few months, a squeeze on the shorts. This will shoot the stock up as the shorts rush to cover.
There was a time, 150 year ago, when the vest pocket watch was a necessary. (Big screen, you know). Watches came along as jewelry. The smaller, the more fashionable
Then, the vest went out of style, and the large, useful and handy wrist watch dominated for a hundred years.
I believe the voice iWatch will dominate the market for the foreseeable future.
