These banks have been holding short for some time. Can anyone calculate the loss they have taken on this position so far?

Good explanation of the long and short volumes, but I still can't see why the big short position has to drag the spot price down. Why not ignore the shorts? Won't their positions expire worthless like all my calls have when they savage the price during expire week?

And maybe someone can tell me again how all this manipulation of the silver market is legal...

  • Which Two Banks Are Massively Short Silver? [View article]
Silver prices have been going up all year. It is hard to imagine the two banks are making money on these positions, month after month. It seems more likely that these positions are being used to depress the price of Silver, but I've never seen a convincing explanation of how that happens. Are these positions "covered?" Are they legal?

It seems that month after month, the Silver price gets "slammed" on the Monday of the expiration week.

Since the commercial positions are now well known, can't we just ignore them? How does this affect the COMEX Silver price? Do the banks lose money on these contracts from month to month?

The Gold-Silver Ratio ought to be at about 20 -- which gives you a $50 Silver at a $1000 Gold.

    Bring it.

  • Peak Gold: The New Paradigm [View article]
The investment demand created by ETFs is a game-changer for Gold and Silver. The spot prices for both are still too low, versus the physical, especially for Silver, which appears to be in shortage.

This is the last, best chance to buy Gold and Silver at reasonable prices before the fun really begins.

  • Why Gold Is Losing Its Shine [View article]
What happens when the current Bear rally ends badly? And, what happens when UST sales stall and rates climb? How about those stress tests, and those auto company deals?

Maybe the old Wall of Worry will bring some momentum to the tiny Gold and Silver markets. On paper, both are underpriced, especially Silver.

  • Faber and Schiff: Inflation Inevitable (So Here's What to Do) [View article]
How come Gold and Silver prices on COMEX are so much lower than the local price for physical? With the premium, you can't fnid Silver for less than $18 per ounce. Why should the COMEX price be less? Is this a sign of market manipulation?
