  • Young Incomers Portfolio: Q1 2014 Update [View article]
Thanks for the update Young! I started investing at age 23, I'm still a rookie though and am not afraid to admit it.
Do you have any tactics on which stocks to keep in your taxable brokerage vs non-taxable Roth IRA? I am keeping the higher yielding companies in my Roth. I've read some arguments that it may be wiser to hold higher growth companies in the Roth to reduce capital gains.
I'm long AAPL, ABBV, AXP, BDX, CSX, CVX, DIS, F, GE, KO, MA, MCD, O, PG, WAG, WFC, XOM, V.

  • Are You Really Ready To Retire? [View article]
L- I think living beyond the means is a big issue going on in todays' middle class. The reason why we are seeing multiple cars in the driveway is because both the mother and father have to work and it isn't close enough to bike or walk to the job.
My grandma's are retired and still don't have drivers licenses. :)

Wow, I didn't know that multi family housing was that common. I think it will become much more common in the future, even in high income areas in the US.

I'm glad you were able to save money, living with the family isn't too bad especially with a mobile home living in separate quarters, it would make getting together with the family that much easier for the holidays.

  • Are You Really Ready To Retire? [View article]
Great article, It's a shame that traditional pension and profit sharing have steadily been abandoned by most private companies. Unless employed by the government, it is unlikely most people will receive a traditional pension. It's also a shame that the youth has to spend so much money for tuition and sign themselves into debt in order to get a piece of paper saying that they are qualified enough for a career.

The following generations will face many headwinds into retirement. If the best way to retire is to start young and save more money than spent, it is starting to make more sense why young adults are staying at their parents longer and starting their own families later.

My grandpa, who was a local delivery truck driver was able to pay the mortgage and bills while grandma stays at home and takes care of the kids. Now both my mother and father have to work in order to pay the mortgage and other bills.
I wonder if the next transition will be a multi-family income, where in order to pay bills and save money, both the mother, father, kids, and grand kids will have to gather all their incomes in one pile in order to pay the mortgage, bills and save money.

  • The Young And Restless Retirement Portfolio: Is It Time To Dump Ambarella? Absolutely Not [View article]
Thanks RS, has it already been a year since Y&R? It brings a tear to my eye how well the Y&R portfolio has done since launch and how well I have been doing since then.

  • Ambarella Knocks The Quarter Out Of The Park, More Upside Ahead [View article]
I noticed your stock pick of the year for Y&R is Twitter, do you have a stock pick of the year for Team Alpha? I'm screening companies for next years Roth IRA and I want to have dividend payers in that one to maximize the tax advantages.

  • The Young And Restless Portfolio Has Had Strong Gains, Is It Time To Sell? (Part 2) [View article]
Thanks for the update RS, I made a purchase during the early era of my portfolio and purchased GRPN when a co-worker of mine made a trip to china and purchased the deal through groupon. Since then I've purchased deals through groupon like 5k events and such. It had doubled and I am reluctant to say I took profits and sold 1/2. I will be curious to see your analysis on the company, With the competition from the internet titans like amazons living social and google offers do you think GRPN will be able to maintain growth?

  • The Federal Reserve Could Save Bank Of America From Being Dead Money [View article]
RS, great article. No one has a crystal ball, but facts show that there are better selections out there, although it ultimately depends on the investors goal. It is a good thing when an investment author looks at both sides of the argument. You have shown that while BAC has decreased their dividend yield %, which could have been a huge mistake, they might be able to take advantage of the ZIRP. This could allow for increase of the stock price. I think that this is an example of how honest of an author you can be.

  • Galena: Positive Results Continue To Give This Stock Growth Potential [View article]
Thanks RS, it's not easy to write about a loved ones medical condition. I have a loved one that has survived stage 3 breast cancer and is past the five year remission period, my bro at age 30 was diagnosed with colon cancer and is now in remission. I'm hoping for FDA approval to help those who are diagnosed. Long GALE, I'm not selling this one. Hope the best for your wife and tell her to stay strong!
