After graduating cum laude with a BA in economics from Harvard, I worked in hedge funds and investment banking for ~6 years before leaving to manage my own money full time. I am a CFA charterholder and focus mostly on microcaps / event-oriented trades as that is where I think the market tends to be least efficient. I also started a website to track interesting arbitrage opportunities for individual investors (link below) - check it out!
IDEA: Create a Free Stock Research Site
The website offers multiple investing tools (charts, prices, etc) and news resources at the click of a mouse. So, instead of having several stock market or investment related websites bookmarked you can now use StockStat.us.
The website was designed to conveniently open 10 of the most commonly used investing websites to do stock market research. Why is that so important? Mainly because, the combined resources found on the website allow you to cut back on the time it takes to do research on stocks.
I am an emeritus professor in philosophy and religion from Northeastern University, Boston. My training in analytical philosophy and logic prepared me for analysis and due diligence of economic policy and a variety of investments. My background in economics comes from its important role in public policy and teaching courses on economics and public policy. I've most recently lived for over five years in Ireland and am familiar with policy issues in the EU, before the ECB, and am currently working on two books, one in the arena of public policy. My experiences in investing began three decades ago when I begin mimicking a neighbor who had a very profitable portfolio. I have since broadened into options and ETFs.

I have a BA in Economics and another in Political Science. I've been working for the past 3 years in the investment banking industry, where I've been involved in several IPO's. This experience has taught me where to look when assessing a company's potential in creating value.
I recently passed my CFA level I exam and look forward to taking the next level on June 2015.
I invest my own money following a very aggressive strategy. 80% of my portfolio is allocated in a few companies where I see exceptional value potential in the next 12 months.

Hello, my name is David. I am a swing trader on bank and technology stocks, mostly the largest market caps in these two sectors. I monitor the fundamental trends then determine if some are over-priced or under-priced stocks for possible short or long positions. I also follow the seasonality and annual cyclical performance of companies, as applicable, for position set-ups. Sometimes I play pre- or post- quarterly earnings if the investor sentiment shift becomes too skewed and extreme. At that point, I also utilize technical analysis.
My view is from afar at a lake in Oklahoma in a low noise environment. I have traded for many years and noticed long ago I did better if I followed my ideas and ignored the chatter and buzz. Someone will always have a reason to buy or sell a stock no matter what the circumstances. Patience and timing is critical so as to not force a trade. Don't go to the trade, the trade will come to you if you are diligent.
Therefore, the less noise the better for me. Accordingly, while I analyze macroeconomic data and the specifics of company financial statements, I ignore business media histrionics and hype. I don't watch TV and especially don't watch business channels.
I receive my own alerts for companies I am covering and have my own calendar for macroeconomic data I am charting for trends. Technology has enabled me to create my own databases and monitor events without reliance on location or mass media. We've come a long way from the old Bloomberg screens which were seemingly a miracle at the time, lol.
