  • Dave's Top 10 Reasons This Recession Will Last Forever [View article]
Dang Michael Clark, 'haven't heard this said before, but indeed, it is all likely true what you say. 'Glad you put it down in writing. Maybe in a few years people will begin to see it (but just as likely only after a great deal of pain that they eventually connect with misdeeds).

To your list of misdeeds I would add the hubris of wars of aggression while paying for them by borrowing money from one's economic rival, the theft of other countries' natural resources, hundreds of thousands dead through the euphemism of "collateral damage" and the destruction of the natural world for convenience and the holy grail of GROWTH. Throw in torture there somewhere too and the scurrilous subversion of the US constitution. Not playing by the rules - skull and bones instead.

  • 2009 Mid Year Outlook: Expect Deflation and an Oil Price Drop [View article]
I like this article. It takes the housing bubble into full account while appreciating the role banks are playing with tight money as well as keeping the stimulus in mind. It has an informative historical perspective. It has common sense. And, it seems to lack a partisan axe to grind. 'Very helpful and organizing!

How various sectors of the economy, various industries and professions will adjust prices will be a fascinating thing to watch, if deflation works itself out over a longer period. (Deflation could work itself out I suppose with stagnant prices, a return to the regression line of the ever-increasing cpi that got ahead of itself.) Some sectors are fluid and respond immediately such as the airlines. Others will resist downward pressure until they face bankruptcy, I imagine.

  • Was That the End of the Rally? [View article]
I've suspected a short squeeze ever since this bounce began, but haven't had the knowledge to verify it until I read your breakdown analysis of performance by volatility.

    It seems to make sense.

The market as a whole doesn't have the feel of a free market, but rather a manipulated one on a short leash. If you guess the manipulation, you probably can make money, if that's your only goal.

My feel was to get out of the market last week, but I am still in with my unwieldy mutual funds. Hope to convert to a broker account for ETF trading/investment.

  • Is Socialism Coming Back to Haunt U.S.? [View article]
You think this came about from socialism or a bankrupt colonial (oil) war and robber barons blasting away at hard won regulation that until recently kept them in check for fifty years? Look around, loosen up, dare to see the world from your enemies' viewpoints.

What ushers in socialism? Unbridled capitalism aka capitalism gone wild.

  • Is America Turning into a Banana Republic During This Zombie Economy? [View article]
You are a first order partisan, unaware of cause and effect in the last eight years (or a blogger pandering to groupie constituents). It is sad to see such a high level of self-deception in writing that is so fluid and with an obvious intelligence behind it.

One cannot even begin to engage with such dishonesty and the group think prevalent in the commentary that follows.
