  • So you've decided to avoid double-dip losses and head for the "safe haven" of bonds for a while. If the low, low yields on long-term Treasurys and high-grade corporates revert to form, Brett Arends writes, you run real risks of losing on the prices - even before accounting for inflation.  [View news story]
haha, what inflation for one? what yields are better considering risk?

try longing IYR and getting that "fat" yield, haha, and Ill show you price depreciation

  • Book Review: Pilgrimage to Warren Buffett's Omaha, by Jeff Matthews  [View article]
Im very unimpressed with buffet after reading his different books, some of the trades he made make no sense risk/reward wise, focus investing as style is extremely risky stuff, you will never hear about the millions of young buffets that never make it.

I do think he is very smart and passionate about his work, and its def. admireable, but if your young and starting out in this business I dont recommend you to learn from this guy, unless you fine with losing everything a couple of times down the road.

Even in semi (or pure) arb you dont over allocate the portion of your bets tied to pnl. Even if I was certain that I have a 60/40 edge to double my money or going bust, I would only allocate maybe 10-15 percent to that source, of course considering that your stake doesnt grow too large compared to the rest of the community.

But hey, he's richer than I am.... :)
