  • Kandi Technologies Rebounds After Short Attack [View article]
Seems to me like a viable business model, the shorts start by buying at the low, pump it up somehow for no reason and then short at high and release a so called research at the same time, wait for the stock to crash and then cover and go long again...The costs are on the investors, short term it's a zero sum game of course. Wondering what the SEC is doing about this practice, it's very easy to verify the trading records and then decide whether the stock is being manipulated.

Kwok and Yang bin went back long time...you need to baidu it in Chinese and you would see. It's actually well known fact that Kwok denied their friendship right after Yang Bin got arrested and Kwok then denounced "Yang is the shame of our industry...." Look who is talking.

I actually believe that China will have a property led bust which will knock banks down and cause the Shanghai index to tumble below 1000 (currently around 2000, also a multi year low already). Liquidity from the govt won't work if the sentiment is not good. It's usually at the turn of the economic deceleration that the market crashes and burns, China has a few problems: Overinvestment caused low returns, inflation caused by latent labour costs and environment catch ups, inability to transform the economy from export to domestic based and worsening global prospects, but of course, the biggest of them all is the property bubble. All of these will cause the real income to slow which will extinguish the fire on property market, which is already beyond the reach of the majority of the population, banks will face major distress from the loans lent to related semi govt and local govt institutions, China will have no way but to inject govt spending, which won't work as they are ill designed and generate no satisfactory returns. When all is said and done, Shanghai will be below 1000. All the money that should be in the market is already tied in, nobody has more money to buy stocks these days, gamblers don't have patience.
All these would probably be happening after march 2013 and last maybe 2 years, then it would be big time to buy again.
As to China stocks in the US, I currently only see one that's really good. The rest are rubbish.

Don't worry about that, SEC Hong Kong is ruthless by US standard, if Kwok is guilty, he will be jailed in China, as said, I will pay him a visit, along with a few fat hairy inmates.

  • As China Medical Approaches $10, Investors Should Begin Taking Profits [View article]
Anyone can pick up an ailing company which has been crowded by shorts, and buy like crazy, in the meanwhile, continue to lend out the shares, so that in the end, when the shorts have shorted more shares than there are outstanding, he can call the borrow, shorts will have no choice but to outbid each other to buy back the shares, fundamentals matter absolutely zero in this case, as it did in Volkswagen situation. I am afraid this is the Chinese VOW. In other words, did I expect it to go to 10? No. Would I be surprised to see it reach either 50 or zero? No. Kerrisdale maybe right, this could be worth zero, but it all doesn't matter, they still have to pay infinitely more to buy it back. It's just a trap.

Fundamentals matter nothing in a short squeeze, could this be the chinese volkswagen? Herr Merckel hunts again.
I won't be surprised to see even $100 for a company that's worth absolutely zero in a short squeeze. It's very simple, there are probably more short than available shares now, all AER and Deutsche needed to do is to have brokers recall the short, which were probably lent out by them in the first place. Well done AER, evil but profitable.
