  • 3 Stocks I Expect To Get Halved In The Next 2 Years [View article]
Agreed on that. I quite often see stocks that I am sure will crash and burn - but I don't know when, so I just stay out. PLUG is one of those overhyped stocks that has risen beyond any rational reason - but I am not going to jump in and short it.

The bottom line is - who would you trust more: SA or the pundits on MSNBC... :)

Not sure why you are counting taxes - ANY winning strategies would pay the same taxes.

As several people have noted, quite often the gems are not the articles, but the comments on the articles. Quite often if an article is just too biased, it gets torn apart in the comments, which is why you have to read those also and not just blindly follow the article.

Since 2007 probably 90% of my investment decisions have been based somewhat on SA articles and comments. I have never bought or sold a stock solely because I read an article on SA, but it is one of many factors, and probably the main one. Since 2007 I have beaten the S&P 500 by around 4% a year. SA, like any site, is a place to do research for YOUR decisions, not a place to make decisions for you.

There is no such thing as "always", and nobody is claiming that. In the stock market all you have to do is be right more often than wrong, unlike flying an airplane you don't have to be right every time to win.

It sounds like you are making the assumption that all comments are pumping or dumping, not some combination of the two. I have seen many articles where some initial comments might be more of one or the other, but counter responses are often fast and furious.

I tend to agree with that. While quite often an article will emphasize the up or down sides of a particular stock or ETF, the comments often provide a lot more insight as to why that bias may or may not be true. To some extent the comments are a form of crowd researching, where little bits of info previously missed might show up.

  • Report: Jobs didn't want Apple to make a TV set [View news story]
All of that is already here - I have most of it set up in my home already, and I have no Apple products. As far as syndication rights, Apple seems to be way behind on that. I have neither cable nor satellite TV anymore, and cannot recall when I actually watched a local TV station off the air. Everything I have is streaming and/or wireless.

Apple was ahead of the curve on the iPhone, I don't see any such leadership in the TV field. Pretty much everything that has been mentioned as possible features for an Apple TV is already readily available.

@jjkiam - I can pretty much buy that already, so why would I want to get an Apple specifically?

Why? What could Apple possibly do with a TV that would make it stand out above LG, Samsung, and a dozen other major TV sellers?

  • Why A Stock Market Crash Is Imminent [View article]
It took years of genocide and the US before the EU and Nato did anything in Bosnia. Neither is much of a factor because they never actually DO anything.

@Fracjob - and that is my problem with Obama's (lack of) foreign policy. Time after time we have heard that "dire consequences" rhetoric with zero follow up (which in most cases is a good thing). But if you have no intention of doing anything, or nothing can be done, he should keep his mouth shut.

How about if you are not going to, or are not capable of doing anything, that you don't make a bunch of idle threats and loud empty rhetoric?

"..Western leaders appear to be made up of incompetents..
