  • Tesla Motors to add charging stations in NYC parking garages  [View news story]
Compared to the total car population, almost zero. "There are 1,360 Model S sedans currently registered in New York. That's more than all other electric-car models sold in the state combined." http://bit.ly/1WmaGX1

All Tesla models combined around 1500. That compares to a total car population in NY of around 9.2 million cars. http://on.ny.gov/1WmaG9p

  • Apple Clobbers Samsung In China  [View article]
One thing not mentioned is that in most of the large cities in China, Apple is considered a status symbol among the elites and wanna-be elites.

There is even a site in China that sells faked peel-off stickers with the Apple logo for generic phones...

  • The Drop In How Many U.S. Stocks Equaled 1 Greek Economy?  [View article]
One big difference is that nobody saw Lehman Brothers coming, and it uncovered all the other hidden tentacles. I don't see that same situation in Greece.

  • The State Of McDonald's  [View article]
I occasionally watch Chinese and Korean TV dramas (yeah, one of those guilty pleasures that you never talk about).

But one interesting thing in the Chinese ones are things like the hero/heroine out shopping at the local supermarket. If you look close, you will see the shelves lined with Huggies, Olay, Crest toothpaste, etc. etc.. And a McDonalds inside the store.

As far as the McDonalds food "scandal" in Asia, most Chinese citizens saw it as a failure of the CCP, and blamed the corrupt government more than they did McDonalds.

The economy of Greece is not much more than Detroit. Why didn't the markets crash and burn when Detroit went under?

Not all devices - such as my car stereo - have full time access to Spotify, or the internet at all. I also do photography as a hobby, and some shoots I get out where there is barely cell phone service, much less internet. I put music on my SamPad and play it through Bluetooth on the car system. And while it is true that you can get pirated stuff quite easily, often the quality sucks - and for 99 cents.. less than the price of a Coke.

  • Google: A Big Test Lies Ahead With The Verticalization Of YouTube  [View article]
I have been around long enough to recall when Google Search was regarded as a pointless upstart that could never beat the big boys. So, yeah.

Spotify is not ad based, or only partly so. They have around 15 million subs last I heard.

I sub to Spotify (and have no intention to change, but will probably try the trial BTW).

But I seldom listen to the same song 50 times - Spotify has a huge database of music from around the world, and some of the most obscure titles in existence. I spend several hours each month looking for hidden gems. If I like a song enough to listen more than 10 times, I will probably just go to Amazon or whoever and pay the 99 cents to buy the song.
